FB Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 just curious to know why the US (and maybe other countries ) prefer to use a centre mount version yet we prefer to have one where the rear arm can move along the X axis (left to right)?? ??? Quote
Tractorman810 Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 we are to lazy, dont like to keep moving the tractor round so we move the arm instead :D :D side to side, lot easier Quote
Lord Ferguson Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Easier to dig alongside obstructions... like walls etc... Perhaps they don;t have walls in the states :D Quote
diggerman72 Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 the americans just go for the basic model, where as us british prefer luxury Quote
Deere-est Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 We need the sliding back actor because otherwise the JCB Dancing Digger Display Team would't be able to do some of their moves! Quote
CCF Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Out in the Midwest where most of the farming takes place, fields are literally just flat large blocks with no curves around trees or slopes like some of you might have in the UK. Therefore, no real need for a moving arm when the center mount works fine. Quote

As you move further west however, you are most likely to see center fixed mounts with the larger fields. Quote
FB Posted February 25, 2008 Author Posted February 25, 2008 i've also seen the centre mounts used on construction sites when watching the Discovery channel etc. and in films, never seen a UK version once !!, just curious really! Quote
Lord Ferguson Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I guess it's just a preference thing Ben... like tricycle tractors... PAVT wheels etc. \ Quote
