BC Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Well on the way back from Costco last night with car trailer and washing machine I spotted a rather nice NH Clayson combine at work just a couple of miles from home. Managed to get the washer decanted and back up the road to catch the farmer on the last bout in his first field. I was speaking to the farmer Peter Morrison who said that him and his father had owned the R reg 11 feet cut NH clayson for 25 / 26 years. prior to that it had been new to a farm at Suttie of Kintore so it is a local Aberdeenshire registered machine. Similar registration to my Nuffield really OSA 181 ... look at the registration on the homeward run OSA 969 R ;D Quote
BC Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 Some more ... but all for now though since the rest of the crop isn't quite ready and he'll be using a contractor with a 20 foot cut to do the larger fields Quote
robl12 Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Nice to see the older combines still getting a run out. I will have a look in the shed at my mum and dads place when I get home as there is an old clayson which is stored there over the winter if it is in there I will get pics. I haven't seen it leave the yard yet so may still be there. If I remember right it is a cabless model. ;) Quote

No don't think it is a factory one Erik. Peter did said they had replaced the cab since there was some kind of Smiddy built ( blacksmith) type of thing on it when they bought it. Quote
James T Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Great shots - nice to see an older machine in the crop. Quote
BC Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 Great shots - nice to see an older machine in the crop. Yes I must admit I had to get back and get some of a nice classic example. It's in fairly good condition and kept indoors all of the time. He did apologise for not having washed or even polished it but it looked fine to me ;D Quote
Barry Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 My Dad drove one like that with no cab, had an air conditioned helmet so he could breath!!! He also looked like a storm trooper Quote
