Tractorman810
so is that basicly dropping the seeds right down just after its been harvested, or am i reading it wrong???
robl12
Apparently with the increase in fuel costs no till has become more popular in this country.
Tractorman810
would make sence i guess, could you still bale if needed after doing the seeding that way??
robl12
I don't think so, there is another way of doing it using an actual drill if you use that method you can still bale the straw.
Tractorman810
i guess if you dont need the straw then it must be quicker and cheaper, as it says no need to plough till or anything, just drop and leave
robl12
Sean here is a link to the drills http://www.fwi.co.uk/Articles/2008/07/28/111360/getting-the-right-no-till-drill-for-the-job.html

sparrow legs
a local farm has been sowing rape like this for many years into barley stubble, broadcast it with the combine then they roll it in, dosnt yeild as well as normal min till or convensional sowing but its a fraction of the cost so compensates for lower yeild
Deere-est
This year they don't even need to bother doing this. With the increased rainfall and the crops becoming so damp and in some cases lodged, the seeds have begun to germinate. Thus leaving the latest option of No-Sow quite popular :D :D :D :D
