The swaths are indeed baled. You can find a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04oRYmOIAh4. These chaps love a little challenge. Got a used Jag 970, bit modified, baler behind it no problem. The bales are later processed in the factory. Last winter they got a little bored and liked some extra harvesting capacity. They scored a used Agrifac Big Six beet harvester cheaply at an auction and converted it to a third hemp harvester which is ran alongside the two Xerion 4000s they have. In spring the two Xerion 4000s are used with rear mounted seed tanks, 6m Lemken cultivator and Accord drills to drill all of the hemp.

What is your cut off date for drilling cover crops then Alex? I really wouldn't put anything in the ground after 15th of September here as it simply won't grow. Not enough growth hours, usually wet and cold. Except for grass that is, which is usually established after maize and can take a bit more. Oil radish we quit after September 1st, Mustard similar or slightly later.

Nice storyline again Julian. So how does that work with you guys for silage? You accumulate customers' acreage and then attack it all at once? Here it's usually hit and run. Local contractor here down the road from me (the biggest in the area) has 4 foragers and 4-5 wagons I believe. The dairy farms are relatively large round here.

Try to be careful where i pick photos from, im currently staying away from where my models are so doing my best to keep this ticking over whilst picking shots that depict the time of year, also adds interest to the topic i feel

I know you mean it like that Paul but it seems not everyone on here can see that which is a shame. I was just as surprised as you was to see a Fendt baler and probably wondered (the same) if one would be available or not. Nothing more nothing less. Meanwhile Julian you still have a great layout and I always enjoy seeing the updates.

After the 14mm of rain we had yesterday I put the plough on ground not to wet just sticky having rusty mouldboards did not help but were getting shiny after 10 acres the chopped straw did not help as there was a lot of it ,the Everlution wheat had come off at 4.5 tons to the acre  

That is a very good yield, you can be proud! Looks to be some nice soil though. Is the MTX the same as a Case MX or is this a newer one with a different engine?

Harvest Log Day 18

First up the lorries for spuds first thing this morning

Then back on combining to finish at Osbornes, we will be back out this way later in the season for Tony House and Parsonage, by 2pm we have moved back on our own land at Atherstone, 271 acres to mop up here, not good yields as it was late drilled behind spuds last year when it turned wet, hammered by compaction and some was drilled with power harrow combi's. Wheat is coming in thick and fast now we are back local, topped into pit 1, tickled through the dryer and overhead into store 1 which is now filling up nicely. We also have our lorries running from Orchard farm bringing in their wheat for drying and storage, this is tipped into pit 2 which fills the 2 150t wet bins for drying overnight when we finish combining, keeps everything ticking and running without holding anyone up. More rain forcast tomorrow so hope to push on tonight, hopefully cloud will come in keeping the dew away.

Oh dear the Dutchies from Texel. Be careful.

Thanks Niels, yields so far are pleasing, Rape averaged out at 4.2 t/ha and although its still early for wheat spot yield so far is 11.9 t/ha but so far we have cut the best looking stuff, but its what we need with the current prices. Ha ha you can remember from last year! Worst field of the dam farm for obstacles

You probably told me and I forgot sorry. Some good yields there then. We still have some fields to cut, they aren't fit. 19% still and straw green. Let's hope the yields will be pleasing. So far they have been variable.

Nice catching up with your updates again Alex! Harvest going well, how are yields? Should I ask why that field is called French nut park?

Thanks David for helping me decide I will not buy one. . Cost 55 euros here. I paid € 19 for the original model. I know it's limited to 1.500 pieces but € 36 for a pair of cage wheels is a bit to much for me.

Is it just the cage wheels that make it special David or is there more to it?
