BGU
MGU had a lot of Britains Zoo animals for Christmas. At a rough guess we have over 50 species and poses. I was wondering how many different types of animals there were? TBF your speciality? I can put up some photos if anyone is interested. MGU's grandfather made him a Zoo board to go with the Britains Animals, Cages and Safari Landrover.
Lady Ferguson
Hello BGU I have most of examples of the Britains Zoo series on my website, as even when I sell them I keep them listed because they're useful to refer to. The URL is: www.hollylovestoys.com Hope this is of help. Mandy
THEBRITFARMER
Post away BGU some pics would be great. A lot of the zoo animals that were first produced underwent a face lift in the 70's. There are a few but I think 50 different species is getting there
BGU
Thanks Mandy, Seen quite a few on your site we have to collect. TBF will post them up over the next few days.
Lady Ferguson
You're welcome - it's not quite complete - I still have a few more to photograph and add - not all the monkeys are there, I've yet to take a good enough photo of the stork and flamingoes and I've got some of the earlier Herald variations also, which need to go on. Unfortunately, when I first started selling these items I used to remove them, so that has left a few gaps - but eventually it should be quite useful. And if I sell a few along the way that helps too! Best wishes Mandy

BGU
49 different animals or poses, not quite the 50. Some of them were a bit chewed before MGU got them. Most came in one lots from eBay for a good price. We also have a lot of Zoo fencing, so with his board it looks quite a good set up. Having seen Mandy's web site we may be in line for a few more additions!
THEBRITFARMER
Nice collection in there BGU, a couple that I don't have either. Looking at it now I would say there is probably about a 100 different animals to collect, I had forgotten how many there were
BGU
I was looking around a few websites this morning. Some of the animals were up for ?30:00 each!!! :o Rare ones seem to be duckbilled platypus and Guar (Cattle)
THEBRITFARMER
Just incase you were interested BGU, the Pelican (not on a base) isn't Britains, neither is the repainted Giraffe (they did make one though without an articulated neck) or the first monkey. Some more to look out for Penguins (another version like you have) and one with no base Pelican (standing no base) Sable antelope (2 versions) one has removable horns Indian Guar Black Rhino Indian elephant (removeable tusks) African Elephant (bull head up) African Elephant (female trunk down) 2 more chimpanzee babies Adult Chimpanzee (moveable arms) Polar bears (there are two more different version than you have) Tigers (two more different versions also) Lioness (rounded ears) Platypus Nile crocodile (opening mouth) Baby crocodiles (2 versions) Moose Wildebeast Baby Giraffe (on a base walking) Another version of the standing Gorilla Tapir Red deer Polar bear baby (also in brown but very rare) Leopard (available in black rare also) Lion cub (no base) The Walrus, Tortoise and Bison also each have another variation The lion cubs on a base were also painted as baby tigers (I have only ever see one set verrrrry rare) I think that maybe it \ \ \ Oh yeah and most were also available in lead Happy Collecting :P:P:P
BGU
I don't think our Zoo is big enough for that lot! Will keep a look out though.
Lady Ferguson
Super collection BGU - and they all look in great condition. I agree about the baboon - the detail is excellent - I also like the wildebeast, as the movement in this model is brilliantly captured. I've attached a picture: And I love these guys too: These are 1960s and 1970s versions of the penguins. Mandy
BGU
Latest additions - Giant Anteaters!
BGU
Some more additions in time for MGU's birthday this month! Unfortunately they came with more Polar Bears, Lions and Giant Anteaters!!! We now have more than in the wild! Got to explain to him how the Sabel Antelope lost it's leg! Lion attack?? I think the Vulture is not very common. Love the detail on the Warthog and baby Giraffe
BGU
Not sure about the Pelican - it is marked made in England?

THEBRITFARMER
Don't know if you have seen this site Kevin. This guy is really helpful if you are looking for anything. I have dealt with him on numerous occasions. His prices are a little high I find but seems to be able to get you pieces that are not easily found. Lots of pics on this site so should keep MGU amused...for a few mins anyway :) http://www.thetoybox.4t.com/main.html
