  1. And as discussed in another thread about 1/32 not being popular in the US is it any wonder when this is what is being offered.

    That's three Britains that I know of that have now been produced (MF1505, JD & Case slurry tankers)

    I'd like to know why they took all stuff of these as they didn't with the MoCo mowers  :-\ :-\

    I kind of understand Ertls view in this and hopefully it is a good thing. Make these cheap and with very few small parts so they can be targeted to kids 3 years and older. If they keep making these models for the younger kids then hopefully we will start seeing more high detailed 1/32 from Ertl/Britians in a few years as these kids get older and want more detailed models.

    I do not recall the Samson model being released over here and even if it was it wouldn't have sold well because of the "European" nature of the model ::)

  2. The MF was actually an Ertl model that was adapted for Britains rather than vice versa

    You guys can thank Cathy for the MF. She is a big supporter for 1/32 and I am sure her travels to the European toy shows is what led her to do the Massey Ferguson 4wd for the National Farm Toy Show here in the US.

  3. What was the market for these cabs Marky, the look NA to me??? and is that's the case you have to be a daft old sod to use "the windbreaker" for winter work. We don't get the worst of winter weather here but there is no way I'd use that and go out doing some farming  :D :D

    You can still buy these wind breaks for the various tractors. They are $250-$300 and there is a guy up north of here that has a fleet of old Olivers he puts these wind breaks on and v-plows on the front for cleaning the sidewalks in the town.

  4. Good call Robert.... the problem with 135's over here is they have become Soooooooo desirable... it's reflected very well in the price they command...

    how is the 135 price-wise over there now... I guess it's bigger kit you guys are more after for the rally field ??? - or have I got that very wrong ???

    You can usually find a decent 135 for around $3500, if it is in great condition then it is around $4500. The price on these has been about the same for quite a while. I am sure the price is going to be climbing since more and more small landowners think they need tractors and they have been driving prices up. The 35 can usually be found for around $2k mainly because of the styling. It looks old while the 135 looks more modern so people pay less for the 35.

    I want to get a small tractor with diesel and power steering to replace the Ford 640 as it is the only gasser that is used in the hay field and lacks power steering so my helper doesn't like using it. I thought about buying a TT from New Holland but am not happy with my NH dealer right now so I am looking to add more color to my farm operation to teach them a lesson (they are 2 miles away). Growing up on my grandfathers MF has always made me fond of Massey red :)

  5. I have always liked the style of the 135 more so then the 35 so I would vote for either a Ford 2000 or MF 135. A couple nice things about the 135 is that you can get parts for it anywhere in the world as they are so popular, plus they are fairly compact so they are easy to work on without needing big tools and equipment and they don't take up much space.

    My gramps has a Ferguson TO-30, MF 35 and 135 as well as a John Deere H, Ford 4500 TLB and a Allis Chalmers B. His MF 135 was the first tractor I ever drove and spent a lot of time on it over the years but learned to drive on my neighbors Ford working on his farm.

    I have a John Deere M, Allis Chalmers B, Massey Harris 81RC, Ford 640 and then more Ford and New Hollands but they are modern. The Ford 640 finds itself hooked to a rake or tedder every year now and is a fun little machine along the same lines as the little Masseys. I enjoy wrenching on them because they are so easy to work on. These new tractors are terrible to work on, I had a neutral safety switch act up on my TN and had two options to access it, either remove the opterators platform or pull the loaded rear tire. Well, removing the rear tire was the easiest route ::)

    Does anyone know when or what sparked this requirement over there? Maybe you guys have smaller cars then here in the states or something but with all the trucks on the roads here I have never seen crash bars on one trailer yet. That is why I was curious as to what they were for exactly.

  7. If I recall the boxes these come in are solid boxes with no windows. So were these randomly inserted into shipments or were they sent special to the dealerships? If they were sent random I would not be happy having some greedy guy opening all the boxes and pulling the model out to see if it was gold or not then cramming it back in there to rip into the next one.

    How many of you guys buy these rare models and for what purpose really? Is it just to have a rare collection or for investment?

    I use to collect a lot of rarer models but then I realized I was buying models I didn't really care about or want and that was taking away from the models that really matter (Ford/NH blue ;)) so I sold off most of the models I didn't care about and kept the ones I did :)

  8. what I'd love to know is this - Deere sued Samson for using green and yellow on their machinery, and this is actually a Samson machine, presumably Samson had to give permission for it to be painted in Deere (and Case) colours. If this didn't happen, surely Samson could sue?

    I would assume that Ertl had it set in the contract with Samson that the original run would be for Samson but after that they could use the mold in other colors to help offset the cost of making the mold since this would be a low volume item. Ertl does this all the time, make an implement based off a real machine then eventually paint it colors for all the other brands (you can get a 1/64 JD disk in New Holland blue with NH packaging).

    What I don't understand is why John Deere would want to put their name on a product like this if they don't really make one. All the other items like this are just generic with only the paint to lead you to a supposed brand.

    And I agree with the others, this is very ugly and I have no idea how John Deeres marketing guys would have approved this thing to be made.

  9. Fix her up. My ex's family had a 990 and I was hoping to get that tractor but when we split her family kept the tractor. I expect it will be dead before long with the care it has received :-[

    The tractor was in very, very rough shape (it made yours look nice), my ex's dad was almost completely blind as a result of a brain tumor but he had a dairy farm to run and he had to do most of the work so the tractor was ran into things quite often (mostly when it got close to dark then he was completly blind). I worked on that tractor some fixing some problem areas but I couldn't just go to town on it because they needed it to spread manure every other day.

    I do miss that tractor as they are unique. Fix yours up and keep them protected.

  10. They are just a baby Precision. They have great detail for the size and for the price it is well worth it.

    I bought one last year and opened it up to look it over then put it away till I build a new display room at my new house. I planned on adding the 1/64 Precision sprayer but would rather spend the $30 on a UH model.

  11. Please would you talk to New Holland about making a TN85FA (or TN95FA). You would also be able to paint it red and switch the hood and front axle and sell it as the JX1075N or JX1095N. These tractors would look great next to the other fruit and vineyard tractors made by UH so far.

    Also, a Korvan grape harvester and a gondola cart to pull behind these vineyard tractors

  12. I just received the Fendt 209F and it is a spectacular tractor (I love UH models). I am waiting on the Claas Nectis and McCormick V80 as well as the Siku John Deere 5615F and when they show up I will see if I can post a comparison picture as I know I would have liked to see all three UH models next to each other.

    Is this a question or just a statement? In my case I can not do any work like this for a few reasons. First off is I don't have much money since I am disabled and am relying on my comp checks to make ends meet (which don't make ends meet :-\). Another reason is my work bench is in the cellar at my parents house and I can't get to the cellar right now (well, I can but it isn't safe or easy for me). I wish it was at my new house but even then I am not staying there right now until I am able to finish the work on the house (I am not able to work again till mid April at the earliest :().

    I do know once I am in my new house I am going to enjoy building custom and conversion models as I will have a great work space there with a lot of room.  :)
