  1. The lack of damage shows just how tough they really are. Especially considering we didn't use a block to protect it and we only had a wire rope to pull it. And especially because you managed to pull an awesum wheely with the 6600 when you dropped the clutch  >:(:D

It's funnier thinking about it now than at the time. I wanted to throttle you when it happened Nick  :D

The second picture shows it as it is right now with the front axles and diff taken off to be done up. I'm going to change the bearings on the front diff to get it moving then replace the diff when I get hold of all the parts off my mates ex army landy. It's got a documented 5500 mile on it courtesy of a bunch of mechanics who can't tell when they've fitted incorrect spark plugs  :D :D :D

They changed the carby and dizzy and everything! Then they gave up and left it to sit. When graeme got hold of it he just fitted the correct spark plugs and now it runs perrrrrfect. But he wants to desecrate it by replacing the running gear with Nissan safari parts Sad for his landy but good for me  ;)

  2. The one you put there with the ford 6600? Il see If I can get a pic of it now. I might be a bit dark. It's not big cos I kncked it back in. Won't take too much to straighten it up good as new. The cow catcher bend I made on the 110 was more impressive. Thats why I cut it off  ;D

  3. Did you know the headlights were only moved out to the wings for the Australian market Joel? Was it the same rule in NZ too?

Lovely examples the pair of them. Your S1 don't look half as old painted in lime green does it?!! Were you smoking something at the time or was it painted like that when you got it?

Yea the australian/nz rules are the same for the both of us. It was only the last of the s2a's that had the headlights in the grill.

The landy was painted by the guy before me with leftover paint from some hot rod he painted. He was probably piddled when he did it (he was when he sold it to me for $1000). But I was probably smokin somthin to buy it like that! I want to repaint it at some stage but I'm not sure whether to get the galvanised bits of trim redone and also whether to paint it green or navy blue. Colour ideas would be appreciated.

Im into the history of Landrovers. There are plenty of fans over here and when you drive one it's like driving a truck. All Landy drivers wave or flick their indicators at each other. You're instantly mates with someone who owns one too  ;)

  4. Nice. Spent a night in Wellington before going across to Picton last year when me and the missus were out there. Passed straight through P.North too with no time to call in for a beer with Nick  :(

you'll have to stop a bit longer if you bowl over this way again. Maybe we can get olly up here too

  5. Iv sold the 110 now but I wouldn't mind another.

It's a v8 hardtop but without the v8. Just a Nissan truck engine in it now. It liked to do 180's around corners when I had the standard wheels because O drove it too fast :P

But it reallt gripped with the new ones on. I kept them for the series 1 although I have a set of s1 wheels for it as well.

  6. Can I call my series 1 a tractor? Hope so, cos that's what they were designed for! :D

The green one goes heaps faster than it would standard because it's got a lovely old 202 holden motor in it. Sacks down the rear springs when you floor it  ;D

  7. In wellington at the mo but going to move up to Palmerston North soon to finnish my apprenticeship. Finding it a bit hard to get all the necessary experience where I am.

I'm gna grab the camera from work so I will be able able to post some pics. Will put my Landy on 2. I like the old beast. Mite scan some old pics though cos it's looking a bit sad with only two wheels ( bin restoring the front drive train, replacing just about everything so it will be like new when I've finnished). When I bought it the steering was so bad I couldn't get it through a gateway first time idling in second gear.  ;D Didn't take much to fix though.  ;)

  8. Welcome chris, I havn't been on the forum myself for very long. It certainly seems to be a wealth of knowledge what with the vast range of experience from all of the members, and everyones pretty friendly here too.

  9. A wee story on the subject from ol....

A few years ago I did 2 seasons with on a dutch owned farm that were growing flower bulbs.Every winter the farm manager would call round the local tractor dealers and hire what ever tractors he could get. Most often they were around 100hp give or take.

Being a pen pusher that seldom came out to the paddock he would hire the cheapest tractors he could.

Working at speeds as low as 0.4kph in the paddock and then doing 40kph on the road was not easy for some tractors, for a time we were runing a Case 5130 and Case MX110 both of witch simply couldn't go slow enough when the harvestor was crawlling along so the trailer driver would put the tractor into neutral for a second them take off again once the arm of the digger got close to the front of the trailer.Needless to say it wasn't long before the 5130's clutch packed up and the arm on the digger was bent and battered it was only then when the digger stopped for repairs did the manager wake up to what we had been saying would happen.

Next season we ran a NH TS115A and JD6410 both had no problem with the task at hand.

So for me one of main things I look/would look for is a tractor that I know will be able to go slow enough for specialist jobs that will come up eg:might need a creeper box put in or get tractor with a CVX type box if funds permit.

That's a good example of having gear that suits your needs as well as affordability/avaialbity. Some people have to have it right in front of them before they'll accept that fact.

Brand 12/20 I'd prefer an MF but i'm not ONLY an MF fan.

Size 15/20 No one wants a tractor thats under powered either. All you get then is more wear and tear on the gear, more gas and less productivity!

Configuration 18/20 What you're using it for and where matters too - tracked, wheeled, rigid or articulated.

Price 10/20 The cost to buy would depend on what I wanted it for and how much I had to spend!

Reliability 18/20would be paramount unless I had another tractor on standby.

Cab 20/20 The setup has to suit you if you're stuck in it for long periods. That doesn't mean it has to be new though. some old cabs are really comfy and fun to use

Style 15/20 There's something to be said about driving something with a bit of character

  10. ye the 3095 is a nice machine to drive  :)she has a turbo too  :) i like the dynashift very good it is  :)

last year the 3095 snapped the crank  :-[ it was still together but it ran with a hell of a rumble   :-\ how many hours had your 3060 done  ??? ours has just passed the 9500 i think :)

The 3060 had only one about 5500 hours. Scary eh

  11. Thanks guys. I'l get hold of a digital camera. I'm still in the dark ages (I like film). My landy is an 88" Station wagon. Only S1 Iv ever seen with full interior trim (For a landy). I'v removed pretty much all if it because it was so tatty when I bought it. It's bright green and white. Put it this way, you couldn't miss it on the road!  :D I used to own a 110 v8 hard top as well but i sold that. Wouldn't hesistate to get another though if I found one in really good nick.
