  1. Here's photographs of two other very recent purchases both from Siku, a Massey Ferguson 5455 and the baby Weidemann Hofftrac articulated loader.

Have to say I'm really taken with the little Weidemann loader, it wasn't all that expensive and makes a nice alternative to all the skid steer loader models out there, it's very well finished off and makes for a very solid toy on any carpet farm too.

Excellent photography.  I purchased a backhoe recently, not what I expected.  This got me to thinking about the quality of the Siku Terex backhoe.  Then I remembered your post about the Siku Hoftrac.  Doing some searching around on the web and your post, I have a Hoftrac on order, cant wait.  Good eye Walter.

  2. Topics merged.

Thank you Deere-est!  You just "bonded" two threads together, err, what kind of glue did you use?  ???

All kidding a side, a break, crack and/or new part to be bonded is always looking for the correct glue.  These have work well for me: "Plastruct Plastic Weld" - spreads using capillary action on joints, the parts are in fact welded, you may need to use rubber bands for large parts but once welded you can toss the item around the room if need be and it wont break, not at the joint anyway;  "JB Weld - Kwik" - a two part weld mix, used with pins of various sizes and diameters, works wonders, mostly used with metals. The Plastruct and JB Weld may get pushed to the side in favor of a super glue though, depending on the circumstances.  The nice thing about super glue is it isn't permanent.

  3. The photos taken by your Dad in the late '70s remind me of images I have seen of the "Black Blizzards," they were huge dust storms that took place in the States back in the '30s.  They were very sad and gruesome times for the farmers back then.  Anyway, it doesn't take away from the splendid pictures you have taken.

  4. Very nice bulldozer models RLT, D7E Hybrid looks very smart. I might have to invest in some of the Norscot Caterpillar dozers at some point for my own collection, or convince my Dad who operates them for a living to start his own collection. :)

Thank you walterderwent!  Thought you might like it, your dad drives Case crawlers if my memory serves me.  Have you made any decisions on your next acquisition?  I haven't seen any farm gear that has caught my eye in a while, although I did get a nifty new implement!

  5. Not sure just at the moment Paul, i'm going to have a really good look at what's out there before my next wage slip arrives before commiting to anything, can't decide whether or not to head down the higher detail UH route or plump for a Britains Simba Solo which my local Newsagents stock.

I guess my holy grail would be to have it yoked to something custom built from an earlier or similar era as the tractor itself, like a set of Opico Trail - R - Disc harrows made by Binkleys in the USA, like the ones featured in two of Stuart Gibbard's excellent books, now that would be really nice. :)

FOCUS MAN!  :-\  You could go nuts thinking about what to choose!  Been there done that!

  6. you have a very diverse and modern collection.. quite impressive and  many nice combo's. I am quite tempted to get my hands on one of those 450 STX precisions.. looking very smart.

Also a nice touch of 1:16's you have got there.. my fav. scale  ;)

And your yard with trucks is quite impressive

What great things to say about my collection, many thanks!  Yes, I do love my STX and Sixteens!  Keep an eye out on the yard, hopefully I can get all of the fleet together at one time!?  ???

  7. is that massey fit to push and pull  ;)

    nice sowing outfit  8)

Murray Thank you and yes they are.  The Massey Ferguson is probably the best for front mount equipment.  While setting the seed sowing scene I inadvertently forgot to mount the Gregoire Besson Planidisk Frontpacker to the tractor.  I based these photos on actual MF seed teams.

  8. Well here it is mate, an Ertl Case 1850CK bulldozer, not the most exciting of models but it's my Dad's 58th birthday today and it will keep him happy until his main present some Old Pond plant D.V.Ds arrive in the post. :)

He also has quite an association with driving Case tracked loaders and diggers in his younger days too, so he was quite pleased when he walked in from work tonight.

Well then, the crowd has some thing to cheer about!  Happy Birthday Dad!  Nice detail on the bulldozer, what are those upside down V shape things on the back of the blade?

  9. That would be Siku's rather nice 1:50 scale Terex 970/980 Elite backhoe loader, one of which is sat happily in one of my cabinets :)

Should have another 1:50 scale item of plant joining my collection tommorow, watch this space.  ;)

Ok I've got the bleacher seats, the crowd to watch and selling dogs & pop waiting on this event! :)

  10. it took me a few mins to pick out what was missing, was like spot the difference :D :D :D

thats one model i am looking to get i must confess, was sort of hoping it would come out in a set with the new claas grass spreader

Tractorman810 sorry for the confusion, YOU get the gold star! I quoted the wrong quote, did that make sense?
  11. I was searching for information on the Siku Kuhn BPR 280 and the SIMA Kuhn model. as well as the real deal Kuhn Topper/Shredder.  I found these photos, listed links.  This is an all business no play machine!  The photos have some great detail.  I would like to find a youtube or video of this bad boy in action.  rlt

  12. Has anyone purchased SpecCast models?  How are they over all?  The Harvest Commander looks the business, it would be good to find more info.  The picture maybe a prototype or is it the final version?  The tongue appears to have a peg/pin for hookup instead of an eyelet.

  13. Wow thanks people!  It makes perfect sense now.  Excellent work.  I would like to get the Steel Blue Fendt or maybe the Petrol Blue Fendt.  It is difficult to gauge price on such models.  I saw a Siku-Weise Fendt 936 Vario Profiteam Holzer go for £65/$108 and a Siku deep red Fendt 936 go for £60/$99.  This doesn't make sense.  The Weise model should be at a higher price.  Although if the Pirelli tires increase the value of the Siku deep red 936, maybe I can see that.  The steel blue 936 shouldn't get near those prices unless I'm not considering a reason unknown to me.  Again thanks for the quick answers.  rlt
