i was always led to believe that it was to help maintain an even feed in heavy crops or as rape is bushy plants to stop them from riding on/over the lower auger?

Tim (Somerset) or Tim (Devon), do either of you have photos of the Honiton rally, in particular Devon Tim's baler? Thanks
sorry no photos from me as i forgot the damn camera!

blimey the marston spreader looks hellish low on the tow eye??? not a lot of ground clearance there. some great pics mate , i dont think i have ever seen one of those mf 30 drill trailers in the flesh before, despite all the drills i have seen arround
yeah it s hung from the standard 600 series pickup hitch which were always a bit low for my liking i think some one has welded a new ring on the spreader on top of the drawbar rather than under it so thats made it lower anyway
the drill trailer i've seen the brochure but never one in the flesh ideal for transporting the drill about much easier than my reekie low load trailer thats long wobbly and a bugger to swing off the road and into a field

Please tell me you videoed the MF1135?!!! I bet she sounded sweet with that forager on the back. Lovely couple of days for you to get out and have a play. Will this be an annual event.. .. I'd love to come along and see these machines working.
no sorry wont be an annual eventbut it has been captured on dvd for future release!

Went to Honiton Hill rally this morning, wish I stayed at home, all the trade stalls but 3 had gone, nothing moving except for tractors with chains, ropes and strops hooked up to everything else on wheels in order to pull them out, it's like a bog in the fields. Should have went there yesterday as it was dry and they did manage some combining and baling straw.
i went yesterday it was wet but not impossible to get about in the combines were going up there and the balers to clear some ground for the ploughs and cutivators

Only just seen these, some stonking kit there, thanks for the pics
yeah we were incredibly lucky with the weather there hasn't been a fine weekend since to be able to do all the filming but its all done now just waiting for the dvds to be released!

Not sure about the model front but a friend of mine does a lot of direct drilling of grass seed. I have no pictures of the drill he uses or know the make of it but it is quite a small machine that slot-seeds directly into the soil and has a row of heavy link steel chains that drag over the ground behind the drill. The drill itself is quite small, not much wider than the tractor. The old pasture needs to be burnt off before rdrilling.
think it will be a nz made aitchison drill very good drills

keep the Massey for a bit longer i think until you get a lot of work on to finance a new or another tractor
unless i've read it wrong he has a jd 3650 not a mf 3650

yeah we definatly had some fun my father had a mf 200 forager when they were new it arrived with a 595 2wd tractor it was not a lot of use really due toits american design it chops the grass then augers it across the machine before blowing it up the spout so was quite prone to blocking up in damp grass .We then had a mf 260 on the 2640 then progressed to a new holland 717

a couple of years ago whilst i was working in a feed mill a chap came in with a long root crop trailer he wanted two tonne of calf nuts tipped on the back of the trailer so he didn't have to tip it up to far to bag it off i duly obliged and tipped a big bucket in to the trailer and lowand behold as i finised tipping it in the trailer slowly lifted of the hook and took out the open back window! he'd come down the a303 with a full load of corn and tipped that off lucky it nevr came off then could have been a lot worse!

yeah it was a good weekend its been a long time in the planning but the weather was great and the forager was just brilliant forgot how well he worked!

Interesting Tim. Will you be "starring", as it were, on the dvd?
oh yes indeed demonstrating either my drive in 80 power loader with massey 80 dung grab or my mf 200 precision chop forage harvester or may be the mf 100 slurry tanker! they will all be featured in the dvd but not sure what i will operate yet!
-
hope fully going to finish rubbing down my slurry tanker in preparation for some filming that will take place at the end of july for the concluding part of the old pond publishing mf implements dvd series!
wish i'd started a week or two ao will be a tight schedule to get it painted need to do it outside on a hot day but we seem to be lacking them at the moment?
