I've been in at work since 5am.. :'( - School 'start-back' from half-term over this side of the country.... busy busy busy
Yes MGU was really happy when I left home at 06:15 this morning!! "Do I Have to go to school Dad?"
BGU "Wake your Mum up and ask her I'm off to work"!!!! :D
-
As Robo says there is nothing in the law about how many vehicles you can have behind you and when it would become an offence.
This is what the highway code has to say.
169
Do not hold up a long queue of traffic, especially if you are driving a large or slow-moving vehicle. Check your mirrors frequently, and if necessary, pull in where it is safe and let traffic pass.
Note it also says if necessary. It will be for the prosecution to proove that you were inconsiderate/ careless driving - the number of vehicles you were holding up and the number of possible stopping places you pass would be evidence towards this.

Aka Traffic Sarge!! :D

I have absolutely no experience of reversing a trailer of any kind!! [
Trying to get into a small yard to tip a trailer!!! \ \ \
-
dont knock the other green kev
so does this mean you'll be let loose on the harvester next year ?
I wouldn't think so. I've already said I don't fancy any trailer work - so cocked that up already!!!
I did ask him to let me know when it was being harvested so I could take some pictures.
-
Thanks Ben!! :
10 days and the field should show signs of sprouting!!! More pictures!! :D
As for the Deutz - I didn't drive it far or for long to really make an informed judgement!!
-
Thanks Mark & Gav.
You are right it was no hardship and I am grateful for being let loose with the kit so will always do as I am told!!
Whats all this guff about the Deutz - sounded like a bag of nails - has a handbrake that was a throw back from a vintage lorry??
-
The Deere had the set it and forget it dials. Flick the button and it raises up to the preset height. Another dial to adjust the height.
He said that even raising it whilst operating so that the land wheel cleared the ground was probably enough to nacker the shaft.?
-
I was told that due to the PTO being so low on the Deere it was really important to stop the PTO before lifting the seed drill as it was higly likely that I would break the PTO shaft.
Why is the Deere so bad for this or is it just a problem with this set up?

also have to consider that compared to spalding ,toy-trac is a pretty small affair to warrant 2 shows a year it will have to build on it's sucsess, at the moment i think you'd be hard pushed to create 2 shows per year , would be good for one of the spalding shows to be moved to somewhere like oxford though , bit more central
Yep Oxford would be fine with me!
-
Nice one Kev... you lucky devil... thanks for the pics.. so... what was the Deutz like then mate
It's a bit well used so probably not fair to comment! \
-
Thanks Gav that makes sense.
-
No didn't get to drive the Fastrac. Don't fancy towing and reversing a trailer!!
It was hard work keeping it straight, had to use the brakes to steer - due to my rough ploughing!! :D
Any other advice chaps??
-
looks like somebodys had a good day of eh kev, and adam to,
Adam was at school, but came down for 1/2 hour at the end - he loved it!
-
Hi Kev
My plan when I finish in the Force is to get a job driving tractors, at this rate you are going to be there and trained well before me :o :o
Keep up the photos, its a lovely part of the country you live in.......dead jealous ;D ;D
Mike
Yes but I have 6 years and 4 months to wait - you don't!!!!
-
I got to drive the Deutz as well!
Because my ploughing was so rough I had problems steering straight - had to keep using the brakes to steer all of the time. Then I had to keep altering the the depth - while I was doing that it went off line!!! Thought I had got it all going well and noticed one of the tubes was blocked!! Cleaned that out with a screw driver and set off again.
A really good day!! I know all of this is pretty usual to some of you, but I was really chuffed walking away and seeing nearly all of the field planted!! Can't wait for 10 days - apparently it should be sprouting then! :D
That's the last of my work for this year. But he has promised me a lot more next year - as he can trust me to get on and now I have 2 days ploughing and 1 days seeding experience!! :D
Thanks Tris - can't say I know how to do it really - he left out dealing with tram lines as he thought it was too much for one day - something to do with pulling a rope and adjusting the counter to zero???!!! :D 24 metre sprayer - 3 metre drill - can't remember how many bouts!!!? :D
-
Will post up problems and learning experiences after putting MGU to bed
-
End of the day
MGU found a golf ball -obviously more impressive than my drilling!! :D
