hello fellow ftf members my names brian a.k.a. mr softie, i grew up in a farming background in the stirling area and as a young person had a wide variety of britains models (sadly played with and lost the boxes), i left the farming approxamitly in 1990 to become an ice cream man (hense the name) i kept my hand in at the farm helping at busy times such as harvest and hay time and kicked my collecting habit off again roughly five years ago, and had lookedd at the ftf but never signed up , by chance i met bill at the g and m isle of skye hotel show and he convivced me to join and once again it taken me about 3 months to write this intro, just need to get roung to listing my collection now and getting some photos up, and the main point of my collection is john deere`s, regards brian

Sorry Brian I should have taken Joe over to you and introduced him too you but as we headed to looks at the Wm Nicol Magnum lorry ( Joe used to drive one ) you looked extremely busy with queues of customers. After that we just walked about and viewed and talked with folk and before we knew it it was 3.45pm and the exhibitors were starting to load up and go home. As you say it seems to be a growing show. It must be 4 to 5 years since I was last there and certainly the quality of tractors and lorries has gone up substantially.
yes bill that was the buisiest balado steam event for me in the last ten years, i was the same i saw you and joe walk past and the next time i looked up it was quarter past four, that mf 690 sat their all day on the sat as well

very tidy excellent model, i remember when we added one to our fleet of 2 3140`s nd 2140, it was easy to identify at the other side of a field due to the black nose decal, good to see the hard work and effort to make your model
-
yes have to say it was one of the better shows at balado, the weather was excellent and got the attendance up on previous years, mind you not that i saw much after 11am apart for the inside of the freezer, was good to see you bill now that i realise catkom3 was the gent with that wonderful tracked mf (that sounds worrying comeing from a john deere man) wish i had had a chance to say hello, but we will meet one day, and missed andrew as well, lets hope we have similar weather next year and the show can go from strength to strength.

The only thing remember Mr Lordie is Massey mad so there will be no John Deere stuff for you
Seriously Brian if you are near Mark's you should go along since despite being Massey mad he is a great FTF member on here who we get a laugh at and with almost 24 /7. A really great character and model collector.
thanks for that bill, i wont make it down in time on saturday but will arrange an extra day for the next show
-
Oh yes Brian... you'll be like a kid in a sweet shop on the day I'm sure..

re reply 15, the cab on the mf 35 looks like a duncans cab off a 135, you can see where pieces have been added eg round the rear fenders and at the joint with the bonnet and the roof looks like an addition too
