Nice work on the Claas Alex,  Personally I would paint the top of that exhaust either metallic silver or copper paint to give it a worked appearance.  Some concrete powder is good for giving tyres and tracks a worked look as well.

The layout is looking very nice indeed😎

  2. This last week we have had a 6 meter Amazone Catros on demo, we have managed to use this to pull down the ground behind the Tiger ready for drilling. Impressed with the roller on the back.

Simon also brought the drill over from his old farm ready to start drilling the beans today when the Claas had finished ripping up ground at Bondip. Colin has been using the Catros and will probably finish working down the ground tomorrow and will swap for the rollers.

Simon also loaded up some seed ready to take to the first block at Knott OakB2409F60-73E6-416F-B8FA-21EB3528F2B5.thumb.jpeg.7b4cf4ad8e1063ac840dd27bb2fcc719.jpeg5F6AADCE-ACD4-4B7F-816E-C5786326F1BA.thumb.jpeg.62584c8f5f610fbd50e15c98499cb201.jpegEA98EA3C-0A66-4125-BC2F-B8A485AE3F53.thumb.jpeg.b4fd034db36c86e163f028816d7794d9.jpeg

  3. We have two other tractors on the farm as well as the Claas, both 724’s an older one with the old shade of green which Simon and myself share and a newer nature green shade which is Colin’s.

Playing catch up over the last few weeks as to what’s been happening, I brought the Horsch Tiger back after having some modifications done to the depth control, it has been been used to rip up ground ahead of Spring Beans when the Claas arrived.

Colin got the Sulphur on the OSR using the Amazone twin disc spreader and Simons hiab trailer which is a really handy bit of kit for being self sufficient when loading fert or seed. It was bought second hand and put through the workshop over winter for a refurb and re spray.FDB66ACC-32F8-4EAA-A3BD-0E56158219B7.thumb.jpeg.9b17229a9146178fdb809f0f3d68b635.jpegEEF15669-D55E-49E7-8537-6381640EB697.thumb.jpeg.4c15382557895a15665a3be12a33fff3.jpeg53E13074-00F8-486E-900E-D21BAA38E4AE.thumb.jpeg.e2996a87df7563847dad655b1af63962.jpeg5DDD17C7-7314-4359-90D9-615C65166EB8.thumb.jpeg.cb55775bc4e15b1b370f511a33af0381.jpeg10A8E21F-0735-43D2-83FC-B9DFEE2CE32E.thumb.jpeg.eae39e645d19fd626f1ecbdf63ab8c87.jpeg

I like that Claas alot, great work.  The farm is really coming along nicely.

Many thanks! Will talk more about what has been done to the model later, looking forward to sharing more layout pictures as it grows

  5. So after over 4 years, Oakley is back and what better way to kick off than the delivery of our prime mover. A 2003 Claas Challenger 85E brought over from our local dealers Claas Western a couple weeks ago after a major overhaul. Hopefully she’ll fit in well here.BCA53C18-019E-46FF-8BDF-62A838DF07E6.thumb.jpeg.f322104b2787992c65116bbc8b89bf84.jpegE3351E7A-25D3-4F53-A8C3-F0EE8B601CA6.thumb.jpeg.c300c4e4133f6944a8bc89c75601bcf9.jpeg68402C2C-3735-476D-871F-D7787B79FB45.thumb.jpeg.5506a307f275d1a1ba33228236e42781.jpegA3651345-E77D-45D8-88AA-D5F0BF14980D.thumb.jpeg.717b058d5b43152d2b734ef74661ba32.jpegCA92BF4B-F68D-4C87-BAE9-E243D6F3CEE3.thumb.jpeg.51134e15eb8db6a9f39547c57e65f401.jpeg0DFA56BF-D75A-4AFE-8474-945D83756608.thumb.jpeg.64fd3df1bc43b7254559c835cf4e8f5a.jpeg

  6. March update

Hedge trimming now completed until the autumn, John has done everything he can in the timescale. We have decided to get in CMC crop sprayers to do the bulk of the spring applications, Simon hasn’t yet nailed down a deal on a sprayer so Crawford has been in applying liquid N to the OSR and is now working his way through the Wheats in his 24m Multidrive. Colin will be applying Sulphur to the Rape this week too. There’s a rumour our prime mover is going to be delivered this week allowing us to start ripping up some ground for Spring beans so watch this space as and when that happens. Nice to be starting to get on in the fields as the new farm is being built. Hope to bring some of the machinery in later in the week.

  7. Farm update

The last month has seen some dry weather here in Somerset now allowing us to think about preparing for spring drilling. We are in Limbo at the moment whilst developing the farm from how it was existing to how Simon now wants it. So we are having to rely on outside help whilst we get a workshop and sheds sorted. We have John Webb hedge trimming for us in his McCormick and also had the local sprayer contractor in applying round up to stubbles ahead of Spring Beans. Most of our machinery is currently being stored at Simons old farm in Taunton which will be transferred across to Oakley once we have shed space. We have been stripping back the old workshop to make bigger, reroofing the old straw shed and now cladding the 4 bay machinery shed.
