Never really had a go at changing tractors around, but always had the idea of doing some work to my 1056XL. I was originally just going to add beacons and a straight pipe, then my friend suggested putting on wider tyres. After much investigation, I decided that wheels off the siku Massey 5455 would be the best. I managed to remove the wheels off both tractors, although getting the siku wheels onto the britains tractor was difficult as the two brands attach differently. I ended up screwing them all on which was the best option believe. I've learned a bit about conversions from this tractor. Still a few minor details to add but here she is so far:

A john deere trailed mower here for conversion to a kvernaland with a grouper. Been on the bench a while but only getting round to working on it know.

Here in Laois it was raining all morning until lunchtime, dried up in the afternoon and it's good and dry now.

Was scrolling through YouTube earlier and spotted this. Driver had a load of tools as well as a metal frame which meant that the doors had to be left open. Police were concerned about the tools falling out. He got away lightly and just had to reorganise the load.

Yes they're all the same. Already have two other ones at another part of the site and they're doing well,  hopefully these will do just as well.

I've seen that a few times myself, Try checking your data connection or go out of the forum and re enter it. 

Our school annual tractor run was on last night,  I was on the organising committee so had the job of fencing off the drive to keep the other students back. Over 50 tractors in total.

Good bit of snow here in Laois today.  

Got everything cut and split over the last few days. Went with the trailer load and got them split with a log splitter today. Then filled a few more bags and then stacked them all up. That's us done for another while. 

Got the most of the small diameter lengths from yesterday cut up then I split them and and we managed to fill 2.5 tonne bags. All the other larger lengths have been stacked up in the yard,  we'll tackle them another day. 

Got the chainsaw fixed, it just needed a good sharpening.  Then we cut up and split everything we brought home the first day. Anything we couldn't split with the axe we put into the trailer as we'll go to a friend someday to get it split with a log splitter.  Then we went and got a tractor and trailer from a friend and we loaded and brought home everything we cut down yesterday. Tomorrow the plan is to cut up that lot of timber and fill it into tonne bags like we started today as we've ran out of crates. 

Should say here if anyone wants some conifer trees for firewood, they're in Laois and they're free for the taking. All you have to do is fell them. We're wanting the field cleared so the sooner they're gone the better (and no, I'm not messing)

On your chainsaw problem if it was new on Monday it should not be worn out already , have you hit some dirt with chain as that will blunt it very quickly , if when sharpening it if one side is sharper than other side it will wander of also keep the chain tensioned tightly on the bar ,is the oiler system for bar working properly as if not bar gets hot and ware very quickly and not cut straight ,you can dress bar back level with a flat file sometimes but if gone to far It is a new bar needed      

When I said workmate I meant our black and decker workmate table thing. Thankfully nobody was hurt. 

I remember us getting some wire clogged around the chain once, and another time the bar oil outlet clogged which left the blade to overheat. We did sharpen it a few times yesterday and as you say it could be sharper one side than the other.  We'll have a look at it today and see. Thanks for your help.  

Good dry day today, so got at the conifers. Was a bit windy though which sent some of them falling a different way than expected and broke a leg of our workmate. 

I reckon we felled about 30 today, we got into a bit of a system which helped get them cleared handy. 

Our chainsaw started 'wandering' on the large timbers so it was cutting at angles. And we bought a saw horse with the chainsaw holder and it wouldn't go through the timber because it wanted to cut them at an angle. We're reckoning we need a new bar for the saw as the chain is moving to the sides a lot, hence the wandering. We've only had it since Monday and felled about 60 trees. Would this be normal? Has anyone any ideas?

Yep, I know what you mean. A lot of the trees are gone green too so when they're wet they're very hard handled. 

There's two sections of them, about 160 in each section.  We're hoping to get one section down but as you say it's hard work so we'll go and do a bit today and then leave it for a while. 

We were thinking about getting in a  harvester but they're about €2000 ab hour and there's about 1 1/2 hours work there, made the firewood expensive.   

Was working at the conifers today,  they were Christmas trees planted 20-25 years ago and most of them have since died. Some nice timber amongst it, but most of it is fairly dead and rotten. 

I reckon we felled about 35 trees today and that's only about 1/8th of them. Got fairly wet so had to stop. 

I cut all the grass at home today. 

Will be felling conifers at another house tomorrow,  hope to get some pictures for youns.

I spent yesterday afternoon levelling out gravel around the place. Gravel was already there bu the had got a bit uneven so I managed to get it fairly well finished off. Pallet did the trick

In case you're wondering, it's a residential camp/conference centre that my parents look after and I help in my spare time, so this was today's job.
