1 wee Q ?.....
Do you ever run over the paddock with a grubber before ploughing? with the idea that it will plough over nicer and bust up beter.
Some swear by that here others say it?s a waste of time if you have a bit of speed on the plough like you said.

Saw a Fiat 180-90 once on hedge cutting duties and all it was doing was trimming verges must have been costing its owner a lot to keep her going doing this as a 90hp tractor would be more than sufficient.
:D

what a good thread to read, top marks to FP for starting it.
I realy think for road work you can can get away with useing a smaller or lets say under powered tractor for the job than when working on a paddock because grip is not realy a prob on a road.
I often pull 28 ton of potatoes on the road with a 140hp tractor (1455xl) with no prob at all because the road has very good grip and the air brakes pull me to stop in no time.
-
saw an mb-trac with a sprayer and a jd 7810 with a grubber working together in a stubble paddock.
-
And they blame us for any rubbish bit of ploughing even though 99% time it was there other group
:D
My response at least we can plough straght and not as bent as grahaem norton

what are ya going to do with a tractor any way mart? do you already have some work for one?
i was going to buy a 100hp fiat and tidy it up abit and use it on the farm, that bit would of been ok no probs at all in getting it payed for,but getting a start on my frist house would\will pay off beter in the long run i thought so i never went ahead with it.
