Interesting, I'd always thought England were big growers of 2nd year wheat, from what I've read. What sort of yields did you get off the wheats? We grown 9t/ha of 12.5% protein spring sown 2nd year wheat most years exp this year as feed barley is worth more than milling wheat .

Why not grow onions Alex as you have the kit more or less and plenty of land? Are onions popular as a crop in England like in Holland, Germany and NZ?

Interesting post Niels, it's abit like Deere and a few others I can't but help feel going down the quad track type road with there big tractors. If you can't beat them join them seems to be the order of the era.

Aussie and us in NZ burn stubble, A government report done a few months ago found that the long and short of it in a nut shell was burning stubble was not harmful for nature and the rural based economy of NZ so the government keep the current rules around burning and leave things be.

Plenty of straw, you'd get a good burn.
Do you make much $ out of wheat straw bales? Last year clean wheat straw was worth 10 pounds a bale for a 4x3 big square here.

Would them headers have wheels on the ends to steady them Alex?
If you could get one in model size would you run a claydon drill instead?
