It depends on parts as to which model Alf,  but it will be a 2005 series circa 1987.   I got to drive both a 2680 and with its very mechanical levered operating system and then the electronic version that replaced it and was the forerunner to the following 3000/ 3600 series. The 2005 with its new 4wd system and button pushing options was so much nicer to drive than its predecessor.   And the cab was so far ahead of the competition, much more spacious and better visibility. Although the 3000s etc are my favourite ever Masseys you do wonder why that 2000/ 2005 series cab wasn't developed further? 

Ive been mulling over doing an MF 2000/2005 convo for a while and have decided the time is right

Jeesh I was only moaning about this last week, the 1455s been done several times undeservedly so imo, MF3600s which are much nicer haven't been done once Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I found a couple more old 3000 series pics whilst going through my photo albums.

Both were only a few weeks old when I first photographed them.  The 3080 was a spring delivered 1988 E plate,  and the 3630 an F plate summer 88 machine.

I bought myself a pair of Kane Classic trailers to go behind my two lovely Massey 3000 series tractors,  all they required was painting the rivets old Ford blue for a perfect match and then the wheels silver.  Some weathering for tractors and trailer will follow in the spring.  3095 pictured whilst the 3120 is still work in progress

Old Kloppy has done a grand job there I must say,  replacing Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling with three virtual unknowns and then turning all three (salah, Firmino and Sane) into world class players is an incredible achievement.   My only concern is that back in the 70s and 80s when Liverpool were last kings of football their fans were just insufferable...……….maybe a bit more dignity will occur this time (but I doubt it) ………………...hopefully they will resist the temptation to have perms and big moustaches this time round

I couldn't help noticing that G&M have just put a pair of models I would like on their website, but the prices are way too much!!   The new Fendt 942 for £175!!!!!! Their just over a ton on Fendts website.  And the new Amazone combi drill plus front packer is over a £100s...………….Im not paying that much for either.   When the non dealer boxed Fendt 942 comes out it will be around £80 I suspect, I can wait.

The village maize harvest lasted a week and got very muddy!!    Heres a New Holland Brown power

The maize gang have arrived around the out skirts of the village this week and by Sunday should be right in the middle of it as theres 75 acres in a few fields up a narrow lane

Looks like they are using mostly Richard Western trailers behind big New Hollands plus CASE and JD,  hopefully I will get some more pics to put on my bluegreen picture thread.

Reminds me of my earliest combining experience,  I must have been around 7 years old and my school friend invited me over to the farm he lived on. I vividly remember four MF combines cutting wheat in a nearby field, I guess they were all 410s as it would have been 1973.

Its the apprentices duty to be set up as the fall guy.   I remember being sent to the works stores at 16 yrs old and to ask the supervisor for a long weight, of course I was told to sit down whilst he went to fetch it and 10 minutes later I cottoned on to the waiting prank

Maize cutting is in full swing here in the fens and today I saw the comical site of Burden Bros contractors using their 400hp  JD8400R with a road brush on the front links!!   Hopefully that was sufficient power to get the brushes working

What sort of money are Wiking JD 6930, 7430 and 6210Rs making these days?

John Deere 6250R,   Seen a few of these around my area now so decided too buy one and try and fix its obvious flaw.  Wiking failed to raise the cab which is one of the most obvious differences between it and the 6215R.  So I have taken it apart and removed the cab, packed it up as much as I can get away with without leaving a gap (2mm) and then reset with longer screws at the cabs rear and glued the lugs at the front.  Painted the door edge bottoms black and wherever else black was needed around inside cabs perimeter and under the rear window.

I also removed the exhaust number plate and painted it satin black.    I might try and narrow the wheel widths at a later date but to be fair its a bigger machine than the old 6210R its based around and looks ok on large wide set tyres.   Im pleased to see Wiking are painting their wheels now as well.   Also I felt the old 6210 models wheelbase was a tad too long but on the 6250 its about spot on so all in all I think it looks pretty good now.   The orange weight has since been sprayed green you will be pleased to know

Spotted the new Fendt T9 last week in a big field of wheat,  I pulled over to catch it on its way back down the field but it lifted its reel out of the crop emptied its load and packed up for the day out of camera shot...……………….nevermind Im not keen on them anyway,  should paint them green imo.

We have three big gangs of smart JD 690/ 790s working within 15 miles of me,  Waldersey farm are all around my village and operate 1 gang of 3 and one of 2 all with 35ft headers,  Caley farms have 3 which I aim to track down tomorrow and today I passed the Mormons farm on my way to the dentists and they now have 4 all in the same field with 40ft headers!!!!   Sadly time was very much of the essence today so no pics taken, maybe Sunday I will try again.   Honestly if these farms switched to class 10 machines from Claas or NH they could all reduce their fleets by one machine  JD Salesmen must have the sharpest pencils going when it comes to combine fleet sales.

Ive been trying to get shots of one of the locals new New Holland CR10.90 but so far theyve been working where I cant get close to them,  its rather annoying as everyday its getting dirtier also thevye got a Blue power T7.315 pulling a big new Richard Western chaser bin after it...………………...Im also trying to track down a CASE Magnum Rowtrac with large red chaser bin which ive seen once pre harvest, shouldn't be hard to find

Got stuck behind DOEs New Holland CR9.90 Demo combine today for a good 2 miles along with several other road users,  when it turned off down a farm road everyone sped up...……………..this lasted 1/4 mile as we then got stuck behind Waldersley estates new John Deere 790i...…….what I can say is the snazzy yellow machine was moving quicker and if it hadn't turned off I reckon it would have caught up with the lumbering JD and then performed a daredevil overtaking manoeuvre on the dull Deere

I remember getting a ride round the field back in 1989 in a new MF38 and compared to the Claas 108sl and TX36s that my mates farm ran that Massey cab was a palace For a few years there MF had the others on the run, then Claas brought out the Mega series and NH the TX60s and it was game over!!

Just watched a video of new flagship Lexion,  visually its not that much changed from the current models which isn't a bad thing. I like the groovy new header side pieces and the spoked wheels.  I expect someone will produce a model of one, although they aren't as quick to make Claas models as they had been in years gone by.  Theres been no new Arion with the nicer exhaust fitted which I find surprising.

Managed to get our bit of hay done between last Saturday and Wednesday, only about 5 acres for the ponies which does them for the year. Gone from a 4' to 6' mower which speeded the job up & seems to have saved a load of diesel. Wife hauled last load in just as forecast rain started, couldn't of been closer finish,happy days.. Wuffled straight after mowing & again next morning, certainly cut the drying time down.

I read somewhere about another farmer who had bought a Branson tractor that went wrong and left him in a Pickle.
