Pete
Research the net for pictures. Gives ideas on materials styles etc. Decide how much space you can give to your building then sketch out a design
MuirHillyBilly
I use plastruct as a base, lots of different shapes and sizes though wood is always wood to for the frame. In terms of coverings, roofig etc try out these sites http://www.farm-models.co.uk/en/84-farm-layout-and-diorama-items http://www.farmmodels.nl/Webwinkel-Category-207217/Stalinrichting-schuur.html http://www.netmerchants.co.uk/section.php/858/va/model_building___diorama_accessories
Deere-est
Plastruct for the 'steel work', styrene sheet or card for cladding, sometimes backed onto 0.8mm ply for rigidity, drink stutters or line strip for yorkshire boarding. Mounted on a 6mm MDF base painted with texture paint or covered with fine and coarse ballast scatter or, cat litter!
altrac
You can buy corrugated cardboard in different colours from ebay for the 'corrugated steel' walls, or make your own, though that takes a bit of time. Get down to ikea or kfc or somewhere and raid some drinks stirrers as those things are incredibly useful
