MF 3090 Snow covered edition

What is the fake snow made out of that's all over the 3090 model and would it be possible too remove it without damaging the model?  I suspect it cant be but maybe someone knows otherwise!

I bought one to make my 3670 out of, if your careful you can manage to cut the larger lumps of and try to sand out the smaller ones. Its fine to do this on the mudguards and roof but impossible in places like around the disel tank and steps, i've repainted the cab and mudguards and cut all of the cab glazing out where its weathered, but its never going to look as good as the original 3080.
