britainswomble
Massey Ferguson 500. A real work of art. First saw a brand new one on the farm where I lived at the age of ten. In 1962 when they came out, (Think it was 62) they were years ahead of their time in looks, very streamlined, excellent all round visibility, hydraulic folding auger, nice steps up to the platform, big fat chunky tyres on the front, 6.354 Perkins engine fully enclosed purring away under a lovely rounded engine cover, and the hypnotic rotating air screen for the radiator air intake. Sex on wheels, and it still doesn't look its age. Put a 780 alongside it and you'll see what I mean. Another of my favourites was the Claas Senator 70. Nice looking, easy to drive and maintain, versatile, durable and very well made. It's a shame I can't E mail pictures to the forum as I have some old pictures of machinery I used to deliver in the seventies and eighties when I worked for Sussex Tractors Ltd. One day I'll work out how to reduce the image sizes and then------. Sorry I didn't grow up in the computer age

I've had to press the "report to moderator" button... that's pornographic that is Thought you'd find the description of the rounded engine cover a bit exciting young Marky. Good job I didn't mention the re-thresher drum mounted on the bottom of the sieves, (New innovation for the new model) or the smell unique to combines when they've been working! Spect you've got a pin up leaflet on one of them. Wish I had. :'(

Light Land
MF 750 A combine I've driven for the last 2 harvests and enjoyed every second of. I love the cab lay out,the way you can move the augar out and put into gear with the same leaver. The short leavers for lifting the reel etc. Often said to be unreliable I've found this not to true and from what the owner of this combine has told me he has only had problems with the transmisson/axles leaking oil. NIGEL FORD
My Real combine favorite as to be the Claas Matador we had 2 of them working on a 400 acre farm back in the 80s with a couple of ford 4000 and ford 5000 tractors and some old home made corn bins mounted on tipping trailers the good old days. Me too, we had one for 21 yrs or so then bought another so we ran 2 for about 3 years before replaceing them both with an 11yr old DOMINATOR 80 for another 15 yrs all without cabs just the way they should be, not a problem as there was usually a cross wind to take the dust away.
