Landrover tractor?

Can I call my series 1 a tractor? Hope so, cos that's what they were designed for! :D

The green one goes heaps faster than it would standard because it's got a lovely old 202 holden motor in it. Sacks down the rear springs when you floor it  ;D

Iv sold the 110 now but I wouldn't mind another.

It's a v8 hardtop but without the v8. Just a Nissan truck engine in it now. It liked to do 180's around corners when I had the standard wheels because O drove it too fast :P

But it reallt gripped with the new ones on. I kept them for the series 1 although I have a set of s1 wheels for it as well.

Did you know the headlights were only moved out to the wings for the Australian market Joel? Was it the same rule in NZ too?

Lovely examples the pair of them. Your S1 don't look half as old painted in lime green does it?!! Were you smoking something at the time or was it painted like that when you got it?

Head lights were fitted in the grill of s1,2, then for s3 they were in the wings. 2a's mostly had the lights in the wings but were fitted with a metal grill the s3 had plasitic grills

The stage 1 also had lights in the wings as do 90/110, defenders

Lots of people say that all 90/110 are defenders, they are not.

When the 200tdi engine was fitted in 1990 they became defenders, pre 1990 90/110 are just called 90/110 not defender 90/110.

The 300tdi engine fitted in 93/94 was basicly the same as the 200tdi, pre 1990 they had the 1959 desinged 2.5 normaly asprated and the 2.5 turbo. People knock the 2.5 turbo but we had more probs with our 300tdi than we did our 1987  2.5 turbo 90

Sorry for the history lesson :D;) ;) :) :)

We had a '63 IIA which had the lights in the grill. The reason they went and put them in the wings though was for export, but instead of making different products for different countries they made the export requirements the bench mark for the domestic market as well. Hope to have a series 1 one day, they just look ace to me!! :)

Yea the australian/nz rules are the same for the both of us. It was only the last of the s2a's that had the headlights in the grill.

The landy was painted by the guy before me with leftover paint from some hot rod he painted. He was probably piddled when he did it (he was when he sold it to me for $1000). But I was probably smokin somthin to buy it like that! I want to repaint it at some stage but I'm not sure whether to get the galvanised bits of trim redone and also whether to paint it green or navy blue. Colour ideas would be appreciated.

Im into the history of Landrovers. There are plenty of fans over here and when you drive one it's like driving a truck. All Landy drivers wave or flick their indicators at each other. You're instantly mates with someone who owns one too  ;)

The one you put there with the ford 6600? Il see If I can get a pic of it now. I might be a bit dark. It's not big cos I kncked it back in. Won't take too much to straighten it up good as new. The cow catcher bend I made on the 110 was more impressive. Thats why I cut it off  ;D

The lack of damage shows just how tough they really are. Especially considering we didn't use a block to protect it and we only had a wire rope to pull it. And especially because you managed to pull an awesum wheely with the 6600 when you dropped the clutch  >:(:D

It's funnier thinking about it now than at the time. I wanted to throttle you when it happened Nick  :D

The second picture shows it as it is right now with the front axles and diff taken off to be done up. I'm going to change the bearings on the front diff to get it moving then replace the diff when I get hold of all the parts off my mates ex army landy. It's got a documented 5500 mile on it courtesy of a bunch of mechanics who can't tell when they've fitted incorrect spark plugs  :D :D :D

They changed the carby and dizzy and everything! Then they gave up and left it to sit. When graeme got hold of it he just fitted the correct spark plugs and now it runs perrrrrfect. But he wants to desecrate it by replacing the running gear with Nissan safari parts Sad for his landy but good for me  ;)
