Mart how does the Maxi-Swather turn? It looks like it has trolley wheels on the back?
Nice pictures though!
I know alot swathers are on a wheel motors to each wheel so just cut oil to one side to slow it down similar to a skid steer steering but its just front wheels that drive and slow
-
i retire from spraying now
Just get your tickets then your sorted well unless need NROSO points for farm assurance
-
Wierd/sad I know but on google earth I found overhead pictures of our kit the old Claas lexion 480, Claas ares carting on our old Marston trailer, Renault 826 on the sprayer (what 75 replaced) and the Cat challenger at work with topdown
:D all on one farm

Good luck with that Rhys, even if you're doing mainly yard work its still a start
its how I started when I was 16, I was 21 before I actually got a tractor on a farm that I could call my own. All these things come with time once you have gained experience and the respect of an employer, someone who is willing to do yard work as much as backside on seat work will go a long way in the farming industry
I will very much second that learn a hell of a lot just being in the yard and gain huge respect from your boss when you do good work just doing mundane jobs
Oh and what pleased me boss chased up his brother about my pay so will have cleared in bank by Wednesday and been offered free lunch with them at cereals on either Deere or Berthoud stand to get me known by reps but sadly can't make it as stuck doing exams

Hope you've been getting plenty pics tris I'm gonna start to miss wiltshire soon when I move

Sat here with the dance tunes playing in the sun before I go back to college later for my last 2 weeks ever of lackham
-
Sounds like your content there mate and getting foot hold in some land which is always a good thing as no more will ever be made
Well were based about 6 miles from Colchester london side but we have land up near Sudbury about mile off and down to Rivendale on A12
Will definatly have to travel to America even if is only for a holiday
-
I've had similar not as bad moving here It's no were near as built up and hills are a bit of a culture shock and taking some getting used to
But defiantly getting the acres covered with the terra though mate ever miss England and its little quirks farming wise?
But that was a bargain then to say least this is one I just missed out on this is what the Magnum replaced and wasn't sold until recently and I put an offer in as to say it floated my boat is an understatement but had already been sold as boss only wanted 4k for this Steiger Panther 325 but missed it :'(
-
Well this was yesterday my sprayer is being fitted with auto boom section control to help in odd shape fields
And then today 2 weeks left of coll and I move full time to Essex beware east anglia
-
Nice set-up there mate always interesting to see machines from other side of the pond so to speak
But looks like it does the job well with those acres sprayed already I wouldn't know how many my 75 done this season I've done 1400 on it so probs around 5000 acre mark I think. Do you run a replacement policy with it or just keep going till no more economic sense to keep running it as that's were on as my sprayer as its 10 years old and done around the 100,000 acre mark now we think
-
Foam bout markers but i do have gps guidance and mapping
i run a 3 wheel Terra gator spraying at 15mph
got a vid on you tube if your interested??
Defiantly mate never seen terra gator sprayer, what width booms you run? How do they travel as I quite often have to backoff at 17k not 15mph
-
Nice 1 mate love all the pictures
makes it a lot nicer to run on tramlines ehh i do all our spraying over here no tramlines
hope you dont get hay fever when your in the rape fields
Cheers
Defiantly how do you work it without tramlines outta curiosity having never done it? just guess work or GPS
Nah luckily not hay fever suffurer was glad for that fact

The problem I have with the drilling of Vining Peas, is the need to get to moisture and a consistant depth. A suffolk type coulter is fine - but doesn't maintain a consistant depth - the reason why we moved away from them several years ago.
In the last 3 or so years I have seen about half a dozen different 'new and improved' drills tried out on peas and we still use only two types, namely the Vaderstad Rapid and the Herrieau Precision drill. In my humble you will not find a better 'all round' drill than the Vaderstad Rapid.
Changing subject a bit andy I see your based near bury and was wondering how far south you come with your viners etc as my boss has been looking at peas etc and was wondering if be your buisness he's been speaking with

Scaling right back on everything farm related, I heard. Ironic seeing as it is an agricultural college!
Never seem to understand the flexibility a one trick pony (or should I say Cougar) can give. All it can do is mow grass. ... and burn
Saying that, I did hear he has got rid of all the other mowers and runs this alone now. The driver was in the pub the other night at 7pm after mowing off 270 acres or something daft like that!
But I definatly think it's going down hill due to fact now part all other college's that dont give a stuff for agriculture but it wont go till **** gives up the legend that he is
We all say that he's obviously got money to burn as he's still got a triple set on the new Fendt 933 madness but seems to make money...

Now dont start the 50k bit Marky only supposed to do 32k
:D only joking mate as I always drive 50k in deere stops holding traffic up but like you for behind 50k hydraulic brakes having had 14t on my old 818 with hydraulics then using air the difference is amazing! And I wouldnt want to really be without air on 50k,
But brilliant review mart though and agree with you on third beacon as cant always see 2 on tractor when loaded etc but had beacons on dickie westerns and never had any troubles with bulbs well ok once every few months but that was on silage trailer that was used from May till end November constantly.
Surprised to see a solid shoe and can see that being either cracked off or worn alot as dump trailers are often used in undesirable conditions and tracks

Well the base farm is about 6 miles from Colchester, Londonside few milesoff A12

Brilliant update as always luke

How much have you all cut so far? Do you do much on arable side things come harvest? Or is your boss solely silage side of things?
