MJB1 got me one, you will see it cn Toytrac topic of last year 'Tris's and Jez's' pics from Lord Fergy or my pics from April Spalding 08. They ain't bad at all and cheap too, did think about colouring it a bit more.
Now i remember, I've got loads of photos of your display from Toytrac. See what you mean about grass colouring- it can look a bit uniform but makes a nice contrast to the machines and shows them up well.

Hm, last time I starte poking round in a carpet shop I got funny looks from the owner! "What are you looking for sir" "Uh, do you have any fabric that looks like ploughed furrows? " etc
Brown medium cord eh? Thanks for the recommendation SMurf, I'll have a look.
-
Are there any UK stockists who sell ploughed field mats?
I need something with a quick clean finish, as you might see on a manufacturer's point of sale or catalogue photograph
Best so far have been overseas: http://www.sceneryexpress.com/prodinfo.asp?number=BH7182
(they do smaller 1/8" deep furrows as well)
Earth scatter: https://www.ontracks.co.uk/index.php?page=product&prodID=20614&catID=271
(this would requirte much fiddling to get straight furrows i imagine, so not ideal)

Got some of those grass mats in Lidil also great stuff for making fields
Lidl sell scenic mats? Has anyone else seen these?

And the one which started it all off.... Tris' Kverneland wrapper...
Um... I paid £72.95 for EVERYTHING! :o
Privately run is it? No doubt the owner had little idea of their real worth!
On a good day my local Antics may have the odd new UH or Britains..
-
had an epic morning! Dropped into pick up Tris' KV wrapper from a local toyshop who I'd spotted had one, and he said he'd had some more old stuff in if I was interested.... er, was I ever... these sort of things don't happen to me!
So.... Powerfarm Maschio & Accord DL
Where is this Simon and how much were they?>
-
Sorry mate. Bit more than i wanted to pay. But i have wanted one for a while.
That's cool, its gone to a good home! I've seen quite a few recently, Chris Edwards must have them coming out of his ears..

Finally got a 590 ;D Yepie.
Bit tatty but looks okayish :D
Oh that was you who bid 50 in the closing seconds, and I thought I had a chance with 34!

Just found this old pic of my mums home made carrots...
That was in January 2006... how time flies :o
Did you make the veg boxes yourself Lord, they look the same size as the plastic Britains ones?

I may have a pair of Siku wheels in my spares i'll have a look for you
-
I reckon Lemken Gigant would be too big Sean I think they are the same as Bergmann spreader wheels \
To my mind the best ones are like on my Fraser off the small Siku slurry tanker or the front of the Ford 5635 or MF 4270
Agree with you there, that Fraser version is superb. I'll see if the MF 362/ little Ford tyres fit, but Siku looks the best bet so far.
-
not the right tread i know, but what about the wheels of the siku lemken gigantic?? seen them fitted to a few before, sure somebodys got a pic of them ,if not i think i have a set in the shed, they use more or less the same rod for the axel as the britains ones, so should allow the reel to spin when its driven
Mechanism not vital here as I'm messing with a powerfarm driven one
-
those wheels on that look like the ones you can get from cheap tractors sets \ \, Woolies used to sell them, not sure who does now, i think Toys r Us does?? \
Near enough, I think he got them from a friction car set. Looked to me at first glance like 362 tyres, but on closer inspection they lacked the detailing. The size and shape are just about right tho.

What about these?
http://www.threeoaksfarmmodels.co.uk/spare_parts.html
SIKU Wheels by the pair - please state colour
Pack 1 D25mm W10mm - Gray, Red £1.80 1/32
Jez, FM and Towse look like a good source. Ribbed tractor tyres is what i''m after though, so I might take another look at that Fraser conversion of yours!
Also, something like this:
Thanks for the ideas

I'm looking for larger grooved tyres for a Britains rotorspreader. I tried to combine Ford 5610/tw20 centres with 90-90 fronts, which worked, but wobble when fitted to the spreader. Ideally the centre holes would be the same diameter as the original impliment centres.
Size-wise, slightly smaller than the Fiat's, but perhaps larger & wider than Unimog/vintage spreader would look like those I used to see on Marshall spreaders.
MF 362 rears look about right but are they smaller than 90-90 fronts?
I'm new to conversions so don't know all of what fits what, maybe siku tyres would be a better bet?

Some more big MF's near my house: 7495 & 6680 both with KV 6-furrow ploughs, plus a slightly older, smaller massey with a 4f plough, but it was getting too dark to see clearly.
I might have been mistaken but it looked like the one with the 4f plough was breaking up the ground for the other two, as it only seemed to scrape the surface. The field is only 32-35 acres.
There was the occassional klang followed by a brief stoppage to adjust, but it looked to me like nicely coordinated side-by-side work.

awful winds and heavy rain, just down from the roof fixing the ariel, it got a bit scary at times :D
careful doing that, remember what happened to Rod Hull! :'(

It's about time the uk got a professional site like this I've given up on ordering from the continent what with the pound so low.
Lovely photographs too
-
almost good tractorman.. but it's a 8830 powerfarm. only produced one year! and quite rare.. quite a normal price i'd say..
Though looking through the archives, only four years ago they were making as little as £33! We just need a glut of them at once.

MF 2680, 1984 version with the cab decal, though the cab itself looks like a reproduction one
-
Looks like New-Ray to me
Thanks for the suggestion. I couldn't find any particular examples, but it's something to go on -thanks.
