  1. Im currently sorting my Britains animal collection and found that many ears and horns have broken off in storage.

Im just looking for some advice on how people store animals with brittle parts?

I currently have them in countless shoe boxes with bubble wrap but find it impossible to locate a particular model without disturbing the whole collection.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Im turning my hand to a few conversions at the moment.  Very green on the subject so advice would be very much appreciated.

    1. How do i get the tracks off a britains jcb excavator (the old type).

    2. How do i get the back wheels off britains tractors(ford5610, deutz and volvo)?

    many thanks in anticipation.

    Some pictures added, any ideas?

  3. If it is genuine Im happy to say that I have a fairly unique variation as well as the original grey I already have in my collection.  I will also be keeping an eye out for the black casting too and any other variations I can find

Great stuff, i have, since posting this, seen the black chassis version.

Im relativly new to collecting and also 80's is bit before my time.  Hence its really great that i can learn from you chaps.

Much appreciated for the info, will look out for these variations now I know they exist.

  4. yeah pretty rare to find boxed even, i have the tanker / tractor unboxed, but mines yellow body red fittings, not sure which ones harder to find the black or red version?? found mine for 5 quid at the coldridge day a few years back, got a green seeder/harrow to for 7 quid boxed

I have the red version and have seen sets with the red version and the massey, also the yellow version with the industrial Deutz. However, never seen a massey with yellow (industrial) tanker.

After looking at other ebay listings i rather think this may be a 'put togther' set.  What do you think?

  5. An interetsing topic, I also bought this 'guide' and like ploughmaster said some prices are wildly over the top. However it is an interesting reference to carry around, checking model numbers, colour variations, 'rough' prices etc.

Although in my few years of collecting i have learnt one basic fact!

People (including myself) will pay whatever price is on the box, IF it has a relevance to their collection, childhood, home farm etc etc.

After all this whole hobby is based on taking pleasure from buying models, displaying them and having something that you will take pride in for a long time!

  6. I've finally got around to photographing my collection so think its about time I posted some pictures.

I'll start by posting some of my favorites and build up.

If anybody wants info or photos of a particular Britains model just let me know.

First up is my favorite, Ford 5610, Cat no. 9527.  As a child I used to hitch my 5610 to a vicon mower and mow grass (carpet) for hours. I liked the manourability of the 5610, especially in the small fields of the dining room floor!

  7. Nice 1 lads, good to see others in FTF collections.

I saw it on ebay and although it has not relavance to me, i thought it was something a bit different.

thanks for the pics ploughmaster, I hav'nt seen the money slot as havnt actually removed it from the card.  I actually got mine on second chance offer so more than likely seller had two and we bought at same time.

Good to see Britains still getting out there to help uk, although production gone to china!  :'(

Do Britains still support the Toy Trust?

Also may be a good marketing exercise for FTF to fundraise for the charity and maybe even get a Toy Trust/FTF limited edition model produced and proceeds going to charity.

  8. Having just looked at my collection sheet, the animal bag I have has the same code (6021) but completely different animals.

Anybody know how many variations there were?

or was it just a friday afternoon bodge job?  :P
