  1. I think it simply boils down to how much you are bothered by this 'epic fail' or 'awful hole'. It would appear, based on most of the reviews and comments on here, that the vast majority think its a very tiny point with only a small minority over-exaggerating the impact on the otherwise excellent model. We've already established that MJB hasn't even seen the model and had simply assumed it had no steering and a crappy hitch - wrong on both counts, and nicely highlights how some approach these things with a predetermined agenda/viewpoint without bothering to invest some time and money to get their facts right before offering an opinion.

Bottom line, it's a great model and it's selling well. If the hole really is that bad, then just get the filler and spray can out. Or buy a Marge.

  2. I don't have a picture available but can certainly confirm that the new Fords have a steering front axle (although the range is a little bit limited) and a hitch that definitely keeps implements up in the air.

I'm also still struggling with the use of the TW15 and 7710 as a benchmark here. I mean, did the 1:1 version have a centre pivot front steering axle with a rudimentary steering rod coming from under the cab, no glass in the can windows (or control levers for that matter) and a hitch with a huge vertical metal lever to the left hand side? No. They didn't. But the 1:32 versions did because they were toys. And this latest version is also a toy.

  3. really ? i assume the new 66 has no working steering & crappy hydraulic arms ? if so then britains will continue on it's journey .......backwards .

real shame britains didn't go to siku as the bottom line is ERTL ruined the britains brand, britains should have been left to go under & to be remembered for the quality brand it once was , britains should have been ERTL's premier flagship brand instead of an unhappy sideshow

So just to clarify, you are offering an opinion on a model you haven't actually seen in the flesh? I'd suggest you do a little more research before offering up your poorly informed opinion...to describe Britains recent journey as 'backwards' is just laughable in my opinion. All of the releases of the last 3-4 years have been leaps and bounds ahead of pretty much everything Britains produced in the 1990's and early 2000's and also a step forward in accuracy from many of the models from the 70s and 80s.

To describe the recent Ford releases as being 'ruined' by the gap in the cap and being an 'epic fail' is just exaggeration in the extreme (worthy of some of our current mainstream journalism). In an ideal world, the gap in the cab would not be there. But try putting the new Britains side by side with the bubble cab Marge. Yes the Marge is obviously more detailed with finer features picked out. But is it 4x as good (which is what the price difference is) - no, it isn't. From a distance of a metre or more away, they look pretty comparable in fact.

It's great that both models exist as they keep everyone happy - but if what you want is perfect accuracy, then you need to shell out 4x the cash to get it and don't buy Britains. It's not the market they are aiming for and it's a completely different cost/margin game they are having to play (toy v model).

Well done Britains for the new models, and ignore the over-inflated criticisms of the minority.

  4. I think the lack of actual new releases is also partly due to Chinese New Year knock on. It's always fairly quiet at this time of year I think for new models actually arriving on these shores.

I think the quietness from UH is that, unlike other years, they announced every single new model in the catalogue at the start of the year rather than drip feeding them in like previous years - so it seems they have gone quiet.

I don't think a long gap between announcing and the finished product arriving is a bad thing, it means they are probably taking feedback and then improving things before release (e.g. Marge and the square work lamps).

What's odd is that Ros have literally announced only 3 models - the maschio power harrow and the two Dewulf harvesters. Exciting models but still seems a bit light for them.

  5. Is it me or has it been very quiet from ROS so far this year? After the excellent sugar beet and potato harvesters together with the New Holland G240 in 2011 I had high hopes for 2012 (not least a blue 8970) but, 5 months in, there seems to be very little new releases - either announced or released. Anyone have any insights or updates? ROS themselves used to be on here so perhaps they will respond!

  6. It seems to fairly quiet from Ros so far this year. Anyone know if/when we'll hear more about releases for 2012?

So far there have only been 3 things announced I think - the power harrow, the Schluter Profi and the Deeulf harvester - is that correct?

  7. Looking at the May edition of Classic tractor, in Collectors Corner by David Pullen on News from Nuremberg, the final sentence says "The launch date for UH's two 1/32 New Holland combines has yet to be confirmed". So one of these is the CR9090 of tracks - any idea what the other one is (a 9090 on wheels?) or is it just a typo in the article?

  8. They are certainly out there, this French guy has one, http://forum.grostracteurspassion.com/viewtopic.php?f=126&t=33656&start=100 scroll to the bottom, also Modelshop24 have photo's of one on display out of the box exactly like the rest of the models on their web site, the green sign indicating In stock,i've bought from them before, and the model is only available when that sign goes from blue ( pre-order ) to green.

V nice looking model....I think I might have to get one of those... Not from a Class dealer just yet of course - as they have no stock :)

  9. That would make sense as I often see them on their way down the M3 toward Southampton - presumably to the docks to be then shipped across the Atlantic.

I guess it shows how unpatriotic us Brits can be....when our American friends are more bothered than we are about where our machines are actually built. Crazy that we then complain that the supermarkets are full of Dutch bacon! I'd love to see Farmers Weekly start a 'Buy British' machinery campaign....but I guess some of their advertisers might get a bit upset....
