There are also rules about whether you can be self employed or not.For example there's only a certain percentage of time worked can be charged to one person, whether or not you supply own tools or machinery or whether there are set working hours. If your boss can tell you when to work, not ask if you're available then as I understand it you can't be self employed for him, only a part time worker.
I understand the Revenue are tightening up on this - if you drive Mr 'X's tractor for 3 months you are not self employed and using your 'tools' under their definition.
Would agree with all the comments above, if you are already self employed (with an income), fine, go do some work for Mr 'X' but don't become self employed just to suit one 'customer'.

You could shape it from a solid block then drill out lightening holes which can be covered with thin plasticard or in this case basically make the central section roughly rectangular and build up the curved sides with layers of card and then sand/file to final shape.

Looking good so far. As said, nice to see something a bit different.

Beautiful. Excellent perspective in the photography too!

As an individual there's probably not a lot of benefit for the cost, but most assurance schemes now consider non nroso operators to be a non compliance, so pretty much essential from a prospective employers point of view.

Thanks for all the comments.
I have another question John, in the picture at the top of this thread, the tailgate opening mechanism is attached to the front of the body, secured closed I presume but you have recreated your mode l with them attached to outriggers on the chassis, auto open close,??

Joe.

I know exactly what you mean, Pete.
All the best for Christmas and New Year to everyone on FTF from this end of the country, too.

I didn't realise you made so many 'specials', but I do like the big JDs and the BM Volvos.

Nice job Gav. Tricky keeping all those stiffeners parallel and equidistant.

Thanks for your kind comments.
Had a wee holiday but back to it again now.
Many thanks to Sean (Tractorman810 ) for sourcing the wheels which were waiting for me!
A dry run.
Primed.

Very smart build. Would like a 1:1 like that.

Beautiful, no expense spared conversion. Just what we expect from you, Johny.

Not too shabby at all.

That would be impressive in 1/32 never mind 1/50! I showed TT a couple of the evening shots and she was convinced it was a real quarry!

Very nice job. A decent set of boots on the front, too.
-
As Sean says they are 3 stage, but they do look very good. Presume you just cut them to the length required.

Did a bit more today. Had to order some brass for rams as I don't have correct size and wheels are difficult to get right - I can get close but not exact.
Put together roughly to see if it all fits!

You've done some lovely restorations, but the Muir Hill is absolutely brilliant.

Thanks guys - long dark nights should give me time to do some building.

TT bought me work trousers from Aldi for about £8 - they are tough as old boots, good zips and studs, plenty pockets and knee pads. Surviving being washed every night too.
What have you been doing or plan on doing today?

Couple of loads of barley away first thing - back into hibernation now.
