Heres one to note down,
A turbine near here broke down, Gearbox required replacing, no warranty etc. . .
Crane cost for 3 days, a staggering £17,000 +Vat
However, one day for a lift was beaten by windy weather, crane had to stay another day, not sure on the extra cost on that
And the gear box was in the tens of thousands but i cannot quote how much exactly as i cant recal but i will find out
Long time to pay the crane nevermind the bloomin cogbox!!!

I dont get why so many people think putting up one of these will make them money, at present without breakdowns, yes, BUT
The second the government decides there is plenty of electric being generated and they meet all the "green" energy targets, the tarrifs will be halved, the subsidies will disappear and you will be left with a machine that will cost you money, and on a calm day they COST money as they use electric to keep systems running and cool.
if it were me, i'd rent out the plot for a turbine and let one of the big companies take the hit and i'd take the rent easy money . . .

The real trailers i think have 5 stage rams in them but scaling them wouldnt be the easiest

Gav just out of interest and i know it varies but what kind of £ do walkers pay per ton?
-
i have a loader pm me
-
Yeah would be an easy conver
Wouls be a simple enough conversion, chassis is the same pretty much and few mods to the back door. My firend works for Kat. Must get some closer pics to see whats involved
Considering there are new designs of the trailers to be launched soon i'd hold yer horseys

i can get a 16tonne ram made by www.ramko.co.uk cat3 ends and check valves etc. ..less than £200

Nice indeed, how well does the back wheels turn? .
maybe a kat trailer could be made from these to
The rights to the Kat range are already all tied up

well while the plough is in the ground the toplink will actually be in float, or rather the spool will be, so the ram can move in and out rather than the pin sliding and wearing in the slot
tm810, when you drop the plough in all the 4 furrows start cutting and turning at the same time, so the edge of the ploughing before the headland is ploughed looks like this
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ but if i drop the front in, move forward and slowly lengthen toplink/ram the 2nd 3rd and 4th drop in in the same place as the 1st did so the edge "in theory" looks more like
------------------------ it wont be perfect i know but neater, and i know i can program the whole thing on my headland management
would be like this, to start, toplink short,
Drop arms
forward speed 1mph
open spool (restricted flow to allow back of plough to drop in slow)
speed 4mph
toplink float
diff lock on
speed 5mph
and to save typing the sequence is sorta reversed at the other end
-
Ploughing the headland level is no problem, its the 2 painful runs bumping across it i want to eliminate by being able to drop the front furrow in and letting the back down when a few feet further forward then i can maintain 5-6mph when ploughing across the headlands without being thrown about the cab

Looks, good, just now to start taking them apart!!

Hi all
I was thinking of buying a hydraulic top link for my 6930 Deere, I want it for the plough, JD want £700 Vapormatic is less than £400
does anyone use one?
1st worth the money?
2nd are they strong enough? EG I dont want to be picking my plough up in bits off the road
Main reason for wanting is to leave ends of fields neater for ploughing across headlands, eg lift front out 1st and drop the back furrow in last by lengthening/shortening the toplink on the move

maybe wiking will introduce 6, 7, or 8r series models. i have 6930 and 7430 with loader and quality is good, but feel metal rims would make model top drawer. wiking 7430 is a little disapointing, as it is really a rebaged 6930. the real machines i feel, stood side by side, would see the 7430 a slightly bigger tractor. am i right in thinking this?
Yes taller bigger wheels, but then this will relight the arguments, that the 6930 model should never have been badged a 6930 but a 7530 due to the wheels and bonnet . .

unless you travel a large distance hauling on the road a fasttrac has no advantage over a 40k or 50k tractor, i was behind a fastrac one day in the village, i was in the 6930 doing 44k, he dissapeared in front of me i thought nothing of it, 5 miles later outside the town i pulled right up behind him at the junction, he had gained nothing once he hit a little traffic,
now most hauling here at most would be a 10-20minute trip, with stops in yards to unload/load or fields etc, so at the end of the day would a fastrac gain even one more load in the day? unlikely
