  1. Hi Jeff, welcome along. Sorry to hear of your loss, difficult times I'm sure.

That's a great collection, it displays well. Did your dad work in the construction industry and collect models of machines he'd seen or used? I'm not well up on construction gear but I' sure others will be able to identify what machines and trucks you have.

Personally, if there is room to store or display, then I'd keep it and then could be passed on to the next generation perhaps. If that's not an option then there are specialist toy/model auction houses that could aid in dispersal for you. Unfortunately it's a decision only you can make.

    Rob.

A bit disappointed with the 500 Era book. Lots of info inside, and lots of pictures. But editor please note... Not only are some of the pictures duplicated in different chapters, many have been reversed - which on the face of it may not be noticeable apart from the huge back-to-front MF on the bonnet sides, and excepting the fact that the subject of the topic is invariably a single door machine with the door clearly on the wrong side. One picture is even upside down.Photo0913.thumb.jpg.525b72f870683da165909058b2ed0a66.jpg

Put this in to test the crazy level!

  3. Interesting. I got mine new, definitely no rubber band. The bales were dispatched through the bottom of the bale chamber and under the tail. I just assumed 'artistic licence' and never queried it. Then the NH was released with the walkers and bale sledge.

  4. Went to the Silchester charity tractor run this evening. We would have participated if we'd known it was on, only found out yesterday and no trace on any of the (very limited) advertising of a contact for the organisers to see if joining in was possible.

The fact that the end meeting venue was charging £12 (no, not a misprint - twelve!) for just a burger was a straightforward ripoff. I hope some of that goes back to the charities.

    Rant over..

  5. Just glanced over the shelf with the Britains 595 on it, and sat next to my 1/24 Touran and 1/25 P38 got me wondering...

Dived into the Massey handbook then using a scale converter discovered the 595 makes a very close match to a 550 - in 1/28! So close.

I'll have to get a photo of them together in 1/1 and compare.
