This Saturday and Sunday ( 15th and 16th August 2009 ) see the 37th Deeside Steam and Vintage rally taking place at Milton of Crathes opposite Crathes Castle between Drumoak and Banchory. I will only manage to have a look up on the Friday evening and attend on Sunday since I'm going to the annual Border Fine Arts sale at Thainstone inverurie on Saturday.

Been a while since my 1941 Farmall A has been to a rally so it will be nice to give her an airing on Sunday ( weather permitting of course ) ;) ;)

Well it poured with rain on the Saturday morning so it wasn't until lunchtime I went up in the car to the Milton of Crathes but there was no way i was taking my car into that mudy field. Anyway on with the show and some photos just in the order I was wandering around the show.

Well I decided on Saturday when I got home I wasn't going to take any exhibits up on Sunday on the basis I would get stuck on the way in anyway and would end up spending a lot of time on Monday washing car tractor and trailer and I really wanted to get going on my new tractor shed project.

So here is the action from Sundays event and it actually turned out to be a very nice day with sun and wind and the field actually started to skin up.

Some of the low loaders were allowed to park on the hard standing that belongs to the Railway Preservation chaps.

Amazing what can fit into Jim Low's van

Crathes109.jpg

Now if there was a best in show I would have said this one one have had to be a contender. Its a 1983 ERF and Fridge van and the lorry was an original Gibbs. james Gray of Gray and Adams trailers found it and bought and restored it and then refurbished a trailer which he found in the Highlands when he was on a road run.

Crathes110.jpg

Crathes111.jpg

I was really taken by this trailer

Now if there was an award for the most original on show i would say that this 1940's Massey Harris 735 combine would have been a strong contender
