Wstarcummins
Well, this is my entree for the cmpetition, since I am from the US and could make anything farm related in 1/32 scale.....and since Ive never tried modeling tractors in 1/32 scale, I decided to do a Peterbilt 379 grain truck. I will be a quad axle.....to explain to the Euro guys (so I dont get bout it) It is a rear tandem axle setup, with a lift axle in front of the tandems and a steerable lift axle behind the tandems, therefore, 4 axles on the rear. This setup is popular on log trucks and milk trucks and some grain trucks. Here is the list of everything I will be doing to the truck, starting out as a 1/32 scale New Ray Peterbilt. -Fix doors, make them swing the whole way out, and make a full door instead of a half door. -Make hood open -Fix hood on the inside from all the screws and what not -Make a detailed engine (Detroit Series 60? Or Cummins KTA) -Make transmission (thinking about a 13 speed....) -Make a detailed interior. -Scratch built detailed frame -Make suspension, using steyrene and parts from the New Ray frame. -Steerable front axle. -Both lifts raise and lower, the rear lift steerable. -Make grain bed, raisable with a scissor hoist. -Detailed wiring (hopefully) -Repaint cab, any color suggestions? -Fix the rivet mess on the hood....anyone need rivets, ha ha!! -Make a nice set of mirrors. -Add hand rails. -Add alittle bit of "bling" -Add rear lights. -Scratch build top cab lights and horns. -Scratch built aircleaners. -Fixing air cleaner placement. I will also be updating the list with what Im working on, whats done, and what I still need to do including pics. Sean
Wstarcummins
Worked on the hood today, wich is mostly done, just alittle more sanding then to paint! Im going to try and find someone to photo-etch me some Pete emblems for the side of the hood and grill for top detail! Any comments or questions are very welcome. Deere-est
I'll be enjoying this What kind of payload would such a truck have' Oh and will you be making the underfloor tipping gear with the scissor mechanism?
Wstarcummins
Normally a truck like this has 40,000lb. rears and 25,000lb front axle, grossing in at alittle over 100,000lbs minus the weight of the truck. Im not sure how much it would be with a quad axle setup, I know a with a triaxle it adds another 20,000lbs. Sean
