neilw
forgive me if this is a daft question, but when ploughing in sticky conditions, the tractor is steered to the left to get more grip - the tractor tends to go in a straight line still, the turned wheel scuffing the furrow - how damaging is this to the soil?? I would not have though this does much for fuel consumptton either.....?
archbarch
not sure what you mean turn to the left??? When ploughing in furrow meaning tractor wheels in furrow, if the plough and tractor are set up properly then there is no need to steer regardless of conditions. MJB1
i have found in the past that the cause of steering into the furrow edge is the lack of slack on the stabilizers , thus not giving the plough the option of pulling straight , this also accounts for most of severe curves instead of straight furrows , unless of course you're following a hedge line.
