Jdeere6910
Just found this topic Neil, over summer when it was wet we raked 2 18ft swaths into one to get the straw to dry, it worked a treat and gave the square baler a decent swath. Seen it done in poor crops to get a thick swath as well.
masseyjack590
yeah but it can bring stones into the swath as well which isn't so good we turn straw with a haybob if its too wet to bale
Deere-est
It's done a lot but lose a lot of straw doing it and on stoney ground you can pull stones into the swaths. Yes, the four rotor rakes are common place for going ahead of foragers and big bakers, especially in lighter crops.
Jdeere6910
we found if you can set it up just right you dont loose too much straw. And we dont have any stones what so ever in our land so don't have that problem
