harvey123 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Well yesterday (Thursday 18 August) the contractor that i sometimes help asked me if i wanted to go for a ride out to pick up the new forager, it's an 11-plate claas jaguar 900, but i ended up buckraking yesterday night for MAIZE, now the crop was ready but it was still very short in some areas, and was rather heavy, just wondered if anybody else knew of any about ready to be harvested? It's really really early for round here! Quote
jordantaylor Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 ive got to say the combinable maize is doing very well and the forage maize it shoutl be goinf in a couple of weeks, all of suckleys is for a digester but they have 300 odd acres of the stuff and 2 huge clamps to fill Quote
rich.new holland Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 there is some good crops down here but no where near ready ! need a few weeks yet highest one ive seen was abt a week ago and was nearer 7-8ft now and that is across most the 100ish acres that weve planted Quote
jordantaylor Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 coming back from liverpool yesterday i saw a maize team moving through the country lanes, a claas jaguar 960, 3 new holland T70?? with 14 or 16 ton baileys, and a john deere 7430 with a buckrake on a lowloader trailer behind. saying that though there was a very good high crop about 7-9ft hight near stoke on trent that i would say was ready and some of the corn crops have started to brown off a bit now, the crops are loosing that rich grren colour Quote
Tommy Gough Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Went to a college induction day on thursday and me were shown round some of the crops, one of which was their maize. The man leading us round told us that it was about three weeks away from harvesting. Quote
Jdeere6910 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Our maize is looking well also but is nowhere near ready to chop yet, however Im not suprised some of the early variety maize isn't too far off considering the dry growing season it had with us. Quote
tractorbob Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 ours not ready yet (got 110 acres) still combining.. Quote
