JohnP
East Yorkshire set for ploughing contest East Yorkshire is set to play host to a major ploughing event next month, which will give young farmers in the region the chance to display their skills to the public. The 2011 East Riding Federation of Young Farmers Clubs' county ploughing match will be staged on November 13 in Middleton-on-the-Wolds, offering free admission. Those attending the event will be able to enjoy a "fierce competition", with the ploughmen taking part very keen to win, according to Fiona Witty, the secretary of the ploughing match. On the same day, regional finals will also be staged, giving farmers the chance to qualify for the 2012 British National Ploughing Championships. Lichfield in Staffordshire will host the championships in September of next year. Vintage, conventional, reversible and commercial classes of ploughing will be on show during the match next month.
