Some new additions to BC's various collections

Recommended Posts

We down here Bill know the first tool simply as a 'turnip hook', I've got one myself, It was used for swedes as well but never on mangolds, you had to handle mangolds like eggs as being 85% water, if you cut them, bruised or broke the skin they would rot in the clamp and if one rotted the rest would rot as well.

Ah right...I don't suppose many folk in New Zealand will know what a tapner is either

Good to hear all the different names used for the "tapner" across the country Tim.

never seen a tapner across here yet, most neeps are eaten out the field here, lot fodder beet now few sp machines coming over to lift it.

There is not a lot of neeps grown in Aberdeenshire anymore however I had Eddie Mutch on the phone last night (the chap who was in the next farm to my grandparents and uncles) and he said he would be giving me a phone after he got his "neeps" sown and be over to see my collections ;D ;D
