Maybe this isn't the correct section to post this up so "mods" please move to a better place if required...the post will contain a steam tractor and a tractor sign so it does have a farming connection.

Anyway I had a PM from mr softie aka Brian Stewart on here and he was saying he was going to the Tain gala and then the Grampian Transport Museum at Alford on the Sunday. I had to look up their website to see what was on and discovered it was "Speedfest" ...a celebration of the performance car. Since there were no rallies on this weekend I decided to have a look up since I was at this event many years ago and it was quite an enjoyable one.

I decided to go early and view the museum which opens at 10am before the event started at 11am plus also to get parked in the council car park in Alford instead of a farmers field about 3/4 of a mile from the museum.

Ok enough chat and on with the pictures. Before the museum was open I was intrigued by this Mercedes 7.5 ton lorry with tail lift and reg no something like W11 MMM

Anyway what was inside was a 1951 Aston Martin DB2 owned by Tom McWhirter from Elgin who has the Moray Motor Museum hence the 3 M's on the plate.

I have no idea of the value of this car but even the number plate must be worth a fortune.

An electric milk battery operated buggy....I have driven a few different ones including a 3 wheeler belonging to Kennerty Farm Dairies when I worked as a relief milkman for there summers when I was at University. Norco or the COOP aka the Coppie were competitors in Aberdeen to Kennerty...sadly none of these companies do milk deliveries any more.

Even a delivery bicycle on the back

Next a steam tractor or a 1920 Ruston Hornsby traction engine ...quite rare I would think

The good thing about this museum verus the Heritage across the raod at teh Mart site is exhibts change every year so you won't see the sme stuff year on year. Oh thanks for the offer of a cone Brian but it just wasn't a day for ice cream even for me. I assume it must have been like selling sand in the Sahara

Alford railway station looked busy in its het day. Shame all those lines were axed...it would have kept mor freight off the roads today.
