  1. Being woken at 6.45 am on a Sunday morning with the farmers snow plough >:( >:(

Having said that both the farmer and the council man in his Kubota do an excellent job keeping the streets and pavements clear here in Drumoak.

Never mind now I'm up I might as well get on and get going with some paperwork sorting.

Kubota has been out here but that is it have not seen a big plough since the snow started. Car is on the drive and there is no chance it is going anywhere. Road to Huntly which is a main road is attrocious at best wife is getting to work with a work colleague which has helped. Just wish this snow would go away... Global warming my a**e >:(  We in Aberdeenshire have only had 4 months without snow.

  2. I must say mark a very nice trailer. There are several Baileys locally to me and all look well. Our local fencing contractor has one he carries fencing stakes and a bobcat digger. They are very much like you Mark forward thinking and willing to invest to stay ahead of the competition and offer a more efficient service. They bought the bobcat digger just to put in strainers and also have a john deere with twin wragg fence post knockers very tidy set up and they can pull the low loader with the tractor with the post knockers on so speed up the operation. Also whilst most use a quad to spool out the wire they have a kubota atv with 5 wire spoolers on it. Look forward to seeing more purchases to the empire.

  3. Have had no water at home since sunday night finally got it back properly today but the way that we were treated by scottish water was terrible. Have been trying to phone from here to see what is happening to keep the wife up to date as she ended up on the phone waiting for over 50 minutes. Oh and their dodging of the subject of compensation even though it is mentioned in there codes of practice.

  4. Well that is it for me I have escaped the clutches of the winter weather by going offshore. I was supposed to go on tuesday but due to delays didnt get here until today yesterday had a nice days christmas shopping with the wife and eldest son and I stayed the night in Aberdeen at our crew change hotel (Marriot) then finally got to the platform at 2pm oh and on nights so only had 2 hours sleep so already sleepy. Amazingly only Aberdeen was bad Shetland has had snow but is clear and offshore was like a summers day.

  5. Well yesterday I cleared 2ft of snow off our 111m2 driveway and all the paths round the house. Feeling a little stiff today but have the 2 inches that fell overnight to clear off the drive. Also have a list of jobs to get done round the house as my wife has gone to work and good chance she will not get home. Also have to phone work and see what time my check in will be tomorrow... as today they are trying to clear friday flights ::) ::)

  6. does that mean then every manufacturer is breaking the law of speed?? sure what about these 40km/hr claas combines? ???

I would love to see the look on the face of the police officer if you said that to him.

As has been said cars can do in excess of the speed limit but it does not mean you drive a car at its top speed does it ::)

As for the "Pressures of harvest" disagree fully with that statement you are the one in the tractor and if you are stopped it is you who get the points on your licence and if you are under 17 that means when you pass you full car test you will have the 6 points which you have for the first 2 years of your driving career and another 3 from your speeding in a tractor so only 3 points then licence no more and retake your test. Another thing to bear in mind if you were to have an accident and it could be proved that the accident occured due to your negligence as operator of the vechicle it could be more than points you are looking at.

At the end of the day it is your choice if you drive above speed limit but I know of several people who drive lorries who have been asked to run bent and have told them no and in 2 cases actually turned down the job. On friend of mine his dad is a HGV mechanic and was asked to remove speed limiters from lorries he refused and quit as he would never do anything like that that could result in a serious accident.

  7. Wow some people need their heads looked at.

Why would you want to modify something that costs that much and will invariably invalidate your warranty and insurance. It is like 4055 power said about boy racers take a 1 litre fiesta and try and make it something it isn't. If the tractors are not offering you the required speed then look at lorries or a unimog. At times some of the comments on here make you wonder about people. And another point 50 km/h = 31.068 mph and 60 km/h = 37.28. Is 6 mph really worth it ::) ::)

  8. Hi

The tank cube is for acid, Propcorn, Added to preserve the grain, what it actually does is kill the vitimin E which is the part that starts the decay of the grain. but as we dry all our grain the acid is not required for our crushing duties.

He can't mix different ingredients as such no, just crush, as the machine stands she weighs 9.5 tonne,  8)

Feedmix originally come from Turriff in scotland. Up here they have a couple of tractor mounted units but also a couple on lorries. Proprionic acid is as ricky said used to kill off the vitimin e it is used on wetter barley or slightly under ripe. Farmer near turriff cut 100 acres of barley to treat with proprionic acid and stores it in clamps to feed to the cattle.

  9. Wild night here again not as bad as last night though gusting to 57 knots and blowing steady at around 40 knots still raining as well. Ah the joys of a north sea winter hopefully will die down before tuesday ;)
