There is something about the old stuff that I just love it has to be the nostalgia factor as by today's standards they are pretty poor when compared to UH etc... Although the weird thing is even the Britains animals that are made today use the moulds from my childhood they still are not the same as when they were first released.

will have a word with them two at malvern then, see what they recon, cheers mate
My friend swears by this stuff. He make a river for his toy soldier layout and it looks the mutts! I believe he used a product called water putty (in the US) and he sealed the base and sides with it. Works a treat.

Cool Mark, now you need some ducks , geese or a couple of swans on that pond and some bullrushes to set the scene.

Looks really good Mark, that magic water is something else isn't it?

Very nice, they really do make great animal sculpts.

Looking back several decades, to the old lead days of 'proper Britains' (i.e. when the Britains family owned it), I've often wondered why they didn't produce cheapo lead farm ranges like they did with 'B series', 'W Series', 'A Series' and 'Crown Range' lead soldiers, cowboys/indians, etc.
The now very rare, and never catalogued, fixed arm Farmer's Wife may indicate they were thinking about it, but perhaps so late the idea was overtaken by the plastic range.
Thoughts anyone?
David,
Have you seen this? I think they were made as a lower end product?

Much of the same which is a shame really. Bit disappointed that they couldn't have paid someone to sculpt a new set for the Aberdeen Angus'
Thanks for posting the catalogue, much appreciated.

More great photos Mark.

Very cool Sam, you are a very creative chap. The buildings look really good. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Very nice Rich, looks good.

Fabulous as always Graham. Always good to see what you are up to !!

That is what I meant Bill, I thought maybe the Classics would be porcelain/china and the Studios would be resin or similar.
Have they always been resin? do they make any in porcelain/china?
-
Not sure if this has been mention but is there any difference in the material between a Studio and a Classic model Bill?

Well all I can add is that I am not a Massey expert but if I was a BFA collector I would be pleased with the model. If I had not read this thread I would be none the wiser as to whether it was right or wrong, I wonder if this is the case with most of the people who will buy it?

I echo that statement, Tris. Chin up!
Same here Tris, hope all goes well for Nan.

Had to have my elderly dog, Smartie, put to sleep today. She was almost unable to walk this morning and arthritis does not progress that fast. X-ray of her shoulder showed a large tumour in the bone so I let her go.
...the house feels very empty.
Sorry to hear that Sue.

I have an unpleasant suspicion that the two new buildings may be the existing Atcost sheds boxed seperately (instead of together as they are at present). I would like to be wrong about that!
I said the same earlier in the thread...bet you are not.
I think the Aberdeen Angus will either be a hash of the Charlois or Hereford or the ERTL Aberdeen they made, heaven forbid should we have a new sculpt.

As per usual Graham another smashing farm layout. Thanks for sharing it with us.

try googling learning curve, that might lead you to it,just tried it,go to learning curve ,then click catergory, then click toys, then click britains ertl

What's the betting that the Aberdeen bull is a repaint of one of the existing cattle (I bet Hereford without the horns) and the buildings are what we have now just available as a single like they used to be in the 80's.

Forgive me as it has been awhile, is there a website for Britains that carries the current line up. Last time I remember it being down as it was supposed to be revamped. Did that ever happen?

Your dio looks great, thanks for posting pictures of your work and progress.
Is there a lack of inspiration about?

With the exception of the Thoroughbred horses, foals and the two horses in the heavy horse pack and the lambs all the animals hark back to the seventies early eighties. The Hereford and Charolais are from 1980, The Friesian mould from 1984. The sheep, pigs and piglets not sure but as I was born in 1972 these are the only versions I remember collecting.
Time for some new moulds I think, when they did the blue ribbon range there were some nice sheep and pigs made, why can't we have them back?
