  1. Some really nice working photographs there Andy, your Kubota looks very smart, there's a fleet of 6 tonne Kubota machines working on an interchange over near York at the moment, can't remember what model numbers they were, might try and get some pictures if I can find a safe place to park. :)

Thanks very much David, they are all off my phone(nokia 6300) thats why the quality is not so good. Kubota is allways  washed and greased as much as possible. That would be good if you got some pictures of them diggers. As you can see the Merlo is slowly but surely getting rougher every day :)

that's great Andy... well done you chap.. I reckon you've come up with a good idea.. and an excellent build as well... I reckon that should get top marks mate - and deservedly so I say  ;)

Thanks for sharing the details.. and picture too - please keep us posted on the progress... I'd like to see some 'dusk' pictures with the lights working if possible  ;)

Thanks very much very kind words from use all. Everyone else in my class is making targets for pellet guns or fans, whereas i thought i would be different and some thing that will be USEFUL. i will be spraying th frame tomorrow or sunday so i will get some pics of it

  3. the other thing to remember is, they get very bashed about, most signs like that get thrown onto and off the wagon, so leds on it will soon get broken, maybe try getting them to sink into the frame, or make them smaller?? so they dont stick out, most store them upright right against eachother, or flat with others on top,the battery compartment will need to be water proof to mate i think they have to last a minimum of 48 hrs usage at present, hence why they use the big cone mounted ones, as they run of 2 of those big square ones (the springs on top version) need any more help let me know, fullt trained up on the roadworks regs sign sizes ect

thanks for the information it is very useful i will most definately be putting some of that in my desgin folder. Yes if i could get away with out Leds i would but i was told that i had to incorporate some sort of electronics fo extra marks. i am thinking when i leave school of being a welding/fabricator and i could possibly make these at night or something  for abit extra cash. have a welder and cutter and a good shed that my dad built so i may consider it . ;D

  4. good idea mate, but at present the roadworks act only allows clear lights to iluminate signs, and the ones on cones to flash, they have to be bulbs not leds as they say they are to bright??? i would prefer leds given i work on the road and would like to be seen

thanks for the information i wonder will the moderators know this..... the Leds i am using are super brights, i am well pleased with it but it is nearly done.i am going to prime it this weekend and but a nice glossy black paint on it, will get some pictures

  5. OK well started of with a few bits of box section.

then went and measured 60degree at each end of the bar and cut which made my triangle.

went to the crappy welder in school and welded it up then grinded the welds down.

then behind this i also made some supports to strengthen them.

then got two bits of angle iron cut and made a bit at the back were i have put another piece of box section which acts as a pivot so the sign can have a tilt on it so it can stand freely.

after that i got a piece of aluminum cut in an equilateral triangle 500x500x500

went up to a man who does all are sign writing on my dads stuff got him to put me a graphic on of a simple men at work.

last week i made my Led cluster which are made from acrylic cylinders cut and then sprayed Redrock red and drilled 3 5mm holes for my LEDS and then made a simply daisy chain of LEDS and placed them on flying Leads. Mounted them on with M6 bolts and will be making my circuit this week and then i have a simple Picaxe programme which will enable them to flash on and off in a clockwise direction. Alot of filing and wet and drying has gone on through out this process

  6. If you are that tight you can always buy the Britains rc JD.but you know the saying you get what you pay for

i have a siku 6920s already but i would like another one, they are excellent, does the fendt have working beacons or etc
