  1. 32 Buckle my shoe.... happy belated birthday wishes for yesterday James T.....may see you next Saturday if you are going along to the Isle of Skye G&M event. I will be there all day Saturday and maybe even stop in by on the way back up from Edinburgh on the Sunday if I have any pennies left after Ikea ;) ;)

Cheers Bill.  It's looking a bit ify for next weekend now, I'll see how things go this week.

  2. Found this interesting little personnel-carrying tracked vehicle near Daer Reservoir in South Lanarkshire (just off the M74 at Elvanfoot, south of Abington).  I think it is being used to transport workers up to a new windfarm.  Nice piece of kit.

  3. Thanks James. Was on to google and multimap last night and see an alternative route i.e. Perth then the Kincardine Bridge way is shorter at around 119 miles from me. I may well go down to this event to see what it is like assuming the roads aren't iced up ;) ;)

Definitely Bill, much better via the Upper Forth Crossing/Clackmannanshire Bridge or whatever it's called!

  4. At the Lakeland show at the weekend Andy was speaking about hearing about a Toy fair / swap meet at Falkirk on 5th December 2009.

has anyone else heard or know any more about this one ???

I did a google and got a shop called McLaren Models in Falkirk ( 01324 624102 ) so if noone knows any more about it I will give the shop a call and see if they can tell me about it.

    Hi Bill

Funnily enough I was in that very shop the other week after my other half told me there 'were some of those tractors you collect'.  Indeed, there are a handful (literally) of UH tractors.  Mostly a shop for rail enthusiasts though.

  5. It's a Loglogic Softrak machine with possibly with a front PTO - see http://www.softrak-atv.com/ I think I recall seeing a shaft when I saw this working from a distance a couple of years ago, but then again, that does look like hydraulics... I used to work at the RSPB Nature Reserve in Lochwinnoch on the other side of Scotland and they got a company called Cloverleaf Groundcare in for a few years in the late 90s/early 00s to cut reeds and sedge using a Softrak and fingerbar mower, see photos below.

  6. The madness of eBay strikes again - I recently sold a few items all with postage to UK only.  What did I receive - about three questions 'how much to send to Turkey' being one of them.  ::)  Then the winner of one item (despite me mailing him to alert him) was from Denmark!  He then tries to get me to post to Denmark.  I eventually sold it to second highest bidder and took the issue up with eBay.  Wait for it - I can't leave negative feedback - apparently sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers.

I don't use eBay that often to sell items and this experience has firmly reminded me why.
