i was always led to believe that it was to help maintain an even feed in heavy crops or as rape is bushy plants to stop them from riding on/over the lower auger?
-
yeah it s hung from the standard 600 series pickup hitch which were always a bit low for my liking i think some one has welded a new ring on the spreader on top of the drawbar rather than under it so thats made it lower anyway the drill trailer i've seen the brochure but never one in the flesh ideal for transporting the drill about much easier than my reekie low load trailer thats long wobbly and a bugger to swing off the road and into a field

yeah we definatly had some fun my father had a mf 200 forager when they were new it arrived with a 595 2wd tractor it was not a lot of use really due toits american design it chops the grass then augers it across the machine before blowing it up the spout so was quite prone to blocking up in damp grass .We then had a mf 260 on the 2640 then progressed to a new holland 717

a couple of years ago whilst i was working in a feed mill a chap came in with a long root crop trailer he wanted two tonne of calf nuts tipped on the back of the trailer so he didn't have to tip it up to far to bag it off i duly obliged and tipped a big bucket in to the trailer and lowand behold as i finised tipping it in the trailer slowly lifted of the hook and took out the open back window! he'd come down the a303 with a full load of corn and tipped that off lucky it nevr came off then could have been a lot worse!
