Sunday morning before the road got busy I towed my mates caravan out from where we have built his log cabin as he has now moved into it , then Tuesday morning this lorry turned up to take it down to shotley as they have sold it to a farming family down there I think it is going somewhere near to where Chris Watson has cattle grazing

I’ll keep an eye out for that smithy mate, what was the name of the farmer it went to?

Shades of 1976 in my part of the fens, unbroken blue sky for three weeks and only one half decent shower in 5 weeks!!    The big boys with irrigation seem just fine, the small farmers must be very worried:mellow:

Be an easy harvest Phil if it stays like this, but no cultivation’s until it rains I fear.

  4. Hot in Essex Sean. There won’t be any second cut silage this year, it still looks as short as the day it was cut 6 weeks ago. Combines are rolling around here on Barley. Going to be a poor harvest grain wise, but the price is picking up nicely, but not so nicely if you have stock. For every winner there is a loser in this game. Be nice if it broke all records this year, then we can stop hearing.......”not as bad as 76”.:):)

Any snow or just cold Chris? The extremes in temp will certainly shock the beast, certainly don't envy anyone lambing or calving outside in this.

Couple of inches of snow mate. Poxy stuff, I hate snow. Should be over the worst of it now.;)the wind last night was horrendous, everything was still alive this morning. Our vet reckons adult cattle are good down to -30, I hope we never see that temperature in this country.

  6. Very cold down here in the usually tropical south. We are 2 thirds of the way through calving, but the 85 that are calving outdoors are producing better calves than the 110 calving indoors. Less pneumonia in the outdoor ones for a start. Problem now is it was 15 degrees here yesterday and today in the wind it's -7, this will shock livestock of any variety, and will do more harm than a prolonged cold spell. A close eye will be needed on all the stock down here in the coming weeks. The 150 cows that are due to calve in the autumn have it easy I think;) on another point, farmer round here top dressed 700 acres of cereals 3 weeks ago, then the beast from the east came, and since he put it on we have had 50mm of rain.....ditch and river banks should green up nicely in a few weeks judging by the water coming out of the land drains around here.

  7. Very sorry to hear that the wheels have come off the deals that members have made with a certain member on here. I urge everyone who wants to buy and sell to read the post Andy has put in the forums update section. This member has gone to ground, but please contact the moderators for information about him. We cannot openly print names or addresses of any member that may or may not have been up to no good regarding  recent events, this could be slanderous.....as they say...innocent until proven guilty. I would urge anyone affected to contact the relevant authorities if they think that they have been conned.  Taking payment for something that doesn't exist is "obtaining money by deception". Good luck to those affected.
