That's shaped up nicely Sean, liking the flat bed too
Its getting there , found its fragile but i guess its pretty fine parts, next steps the drop sides, hopefully i have enough clearance for them with paint on, and the latches still work as at the mo you lift them a smidge to open and reverse to close , but its inly an.5mm rod and opening so paint could poss foul it working . I have altered the files now so its in 3 parts , chassis body and panels mainly so its easier to get off the supports , also got a proper grain top printed yesterday so thats waiting to go on

whilst out there i also got the base of the trailer painted, along with timbers made, trying a new way with this, with a sheet of lime wood scored to give the planks effect then stained with a ipa and black ink mix , same as i used for the barns on the layout, .was always going . to be blue initially, until i realised i had run out of the ransomes blue, so went for a general purpose red, its bit bright for pettit but i do have decals for that, and they are pretty much identical anyway .drop sides are in primer at the mo

dont tend to buy much of the modern mf stuff, just not my think age wise , but i have seen a good few of them 5s loaders this way, and uh doing mf loaders compared to say fendt or nh and the rest , is actually a rare thing, only seen one other, so i may just invest in one of them

the marston ones are pretty easy to do your self, being on a white background, plenty of pics on google and down size them, the ace decal may be a bit harder to find, but i have seen them, just need a decent printer and some white decal vinyl or even waterslide paper then ,i did them when i used to do my marston cut down and repaint ones years ago .

I’ve heard them mentioned before, but not actually seen any pics of them
i nearly went for the twin axels, they didnt have grain tops though, both were just the drop side height , there was also one of the high tips that smithy has posted . do wish i had got a derv bowser, but they still come up from time to time.

had a small misshap with the first trailer, i dropped it, however i had already printed a second body out with a few amendments to it, so have a complete base now, working screw jack, sides drop and rear tailgate swings and is removable for a silage top, its a bit tight at the mo as i have not sanded it down properly, and requires a small alteration as well , whilst altering issues with the 6 ton,i have also been altering the potential 8 ton at the same time, plus working on the chassis inc the way the way the rears will pivot properly on opposite sides, but the last pic does sort of show how it will look, with hopefully the same features. next step sort a grain top, and then attempt a silage top

i have 3 of his trailers, two versions of the 3.5 ton pettit ( one has a removable grain top) and a 3.5 ton ransomes, also have a un made mill loader of his, which i managed to buy when he retired, not got round to getting a scaledown te20 to fit it to yet though

Did "dad's tractors" make sheds as well ? Sure I remember him making sheds fuel tanks and the trailers and what not I'd love a trailer one day
no that was his friend, george poole? i think was his name, i got a couple of grain silos of him, and my water tower on the layout. all made from card and other bits. very nice stuff , wish i could have afforded his barns and other bits at the time. really nice guy to talk to, very helpful in advising how to make stuff yourself

just seen pics of this on faceslap, company doing after market tracks all round, but as someone else noticed, surely the rear and front hitchs would need pushing out, the front due to steering, as to me they look like the would foul a front implement , and the rear one looks to be way inside the tracks at the bottom where they stick out, could poss work on a trailed implement ,but not on a drafted item like a sumo or similar.

been at work since 4.30 this morn, got home about 2.30, luckily a relatively easy job, which i would have happily done on a normal weekday, but our new safety rules combined with engineers who are more than happy to throw the job back due to them, has lined my pockets nicely for xmas at least

Beet are heavy in a normal bucket , if them buckets are not loaded evenly they will twist so need a experienced driver on them ,yes they heap up with them but they push beet into a water channel built into the flat-pads and water transport beet into factory , my local factory at Bury St Edmunds are slicing about 15,000 tonnes a day so need big buckets to keep pushing into water flumes
not been in bury for ages now, did go in a fair bit as a kid during the lifting season when we would take our own in with the leyland constructer tipper , just before we gave up doing beet it was easier to let a contractor and artic take it, just meant it sat on our muck heap pad a bit longer thats all . just put some bales between it and the muck.

i guess you get waste with any printer, even resin, this new software slicer i have now tell you a total cost in resin, but doesn't break it down to model and supports, so hard to tell, the trailers cost in at £1.87 of resin so it claims ?
-
Doubt our old jcb3c would have handles a bucket that size when doing beet😂😂😂 goes to prove what those artic handlers will lift mind , as i always remember beet being an pretty heavy crop when handling it

Not as many as you think to be honest james , once i played with the support settings i halved it, second prints running, with some tinkering its down to same layer level detail wise but now a 3 and a half hour print , was nearly 9 on the older settings , just playing to find that perfect detail against time print, machines great mind, straight out of the box, i very simple bed level(was factory set but did it anyway) and push print. Its more the software thats difficult being new

what a huge step up from the filament one i bought, few niggles to overcome ,like removing bits before curing, as only one side door will drop, must have been some crud in the joins of the others, and re positioning the model on the bed, as its cut part of a corner of the chassis, which is more me that the model but very happy with it,lot stronger than the filament ones, and less prep work before paint . no2 on the go as i type after sorting a vent pipe for it found my tyres as well, just need to sort out proper casting of those ,but have 8 good ones, just bubbles on one side

yeah it will run through the curing station when done, put the tines through for 5 mins each side, seems to be the common time going by all the comments and videos i have seen, starting to realise how to trim time, mainly on the lift height between levels, so it will be 4 mm instead of factory set 8 mm, which takes 4 seconds of a layer in turn adds up quickly on say. a 4000 odd layer which is running now ,few other bits can be altered as well, like layer level, but you then need to sand lines ect. most seem to save by the lift height

is that one of james kits ?, not made mine yet, but have been pondering adding the silage sides, even though i dont do grass on the layout

second print went wrong, somehow managed to get both items merged on the program, and didnt notice till half way through, spent an hour last night going through the chitta program and figuring out what i got wrong , and remade another file, which went on at 7.30 this morning, so far looks spot on to what i want, chassis and body in one print at 10 hours, so half the filament ones time. only bonus of the failed 2nd print, it had proven that the trailer works, and all the holes are there, they all fit fine and even though i have not bother curing it, its very strong already. got wheels ,grain shoots and a few other small bits out, which again all look perfect, very impressed with it so far, even if the old duffer on the laptop has buggered a few bits up 😂😂

i will take it off for painting so will send you some pics, its pretty basic and i have made it a bit to tight for the rocking ,so needs some sanding, but i recon you could make it on your cutter .
here you go james, and zac, its pretty basic, just two lengths of plastistrut, joined by two bits of tube, which squares it all up and gives it a bit of strength , i did put a bit of tube between your chassis axel as well, but more to tidy up than anything else . didnt need to raise it or anything height wise as your original pivot point height is spot on

couple of small alteration s required, ,lengths of the drop sides to allow for paint, which did cross my mind as i was paining them ,only .5mm overall on each if that , plus the grain tops out slightly, but overall its works, just. need to tweek the printer files a smidge to find the perfect finish against time printing now
