  1. Saw the first mower of the season on the move today on the back of a biggish JD. Was covered in dust and bird doo, so may have just been going for a service.....

    Maybe John Manners?

Yes John that looks who it was. I had a look at his website.

    http://www.mannerscombineparts.com/index.htm

I think I may have got some of my sightings incorrect

I see on his home page it shows an XF DAF but he may have Scannies also.

In addition I thought it was a wagon and drag however in the picture it appears to be a artic tractor with a swan neck and perhaps an extentable trailer. From the short period of time I had to view them it looked like wagon and drags. What ever an impressive looking set up. Perhaps i need to get my eyes retested!!

  2. 16th - 18th May in Balmoral Showgrounds

    8.30 am - 8pm

    So whos going  ;D

And I thought for a minute the Queen was holding a show at her Summer residence at Balmoral on Royal Deeside in Scotland just up the road from me !!!

Ah from your neck of the woods John - I just could not see a name on the lorries but the convoy was an awesome sight climbing up the hill as I overtook them. I need to carry a camera in the car in the future.

  4. Came up behind a John Deere tractor and loader pulling a Fraser trailer with high sides which looked to be loaded with scrap. On top of this was strapped what looked to be a Ford Mondeo which was on its way to the scrap yard. It was a narrow country forest road so I choose an alternative road since there would have been no chance of overtaking the tractor and trailer.

Low and behold when I joined the A96 inverurie to Aberdeen road what did I meet on the round about??? Well it was two wagon's and drags red in colour and Scania's I think and all I could read was they were from Northumberland. The first was had a what looked to be a new John Deere combine on the drag and the second one had a second hand New Holland combine.

  5. Here's a couple of pictures of the other Nuffield we had, this was my dad's from new and had completed 6500hrs up until I sold it a couple of years ago. It had had the liners done a couple of times due to them cracking and I did rebuild the front axle on it with new king pins, bushes and bearings to get rid of the trademark Nuffield wobble :)

Like the pictures Gav. Noticed the BMC drivers badge on the RHS grill on the second picture and brought a smile to my face since I purchased a replica badge at the Lanark show last year and just got round to fitting it to my Nuffield on Sunday.

I can relate to the the Nuffield wobble - the one bad thing about Nuffield's I would say but can be cured. One of the best things I like about the Nuffield is their speed on the road. I'm guessing they must have been one of the fastest tractors on the road in their hey day ????

  6. TSA135A I e-mailed the auctioners to find what price it went to but the reply back was that it wasn'st recored. An odd response but I will try and find out when I see anyone who went to the sale.I'm intending going to a show at Kinross this Sunday and then BA the following weekend. I'm sure if I don't find out by them some of the Ford fanatics or some of the guys in the County club at the BA event will know.

  7. Ok then will just wait for the post to go up sometime when you do hear the final price when the hammer fell. Hope to see you at the B.A. event. Will P.M. you about that one. Cheers again  :)

  8. Great post Gavin and excellent pictures on the restoration project. It is really good to see what came be done with a lot of money time and patience. I got my Nuffield DM 4 out of storage on Saturday for the first time in a couple of years. Charged the batteries checked fluids turned on the switch key pulled the starter and hey presto she burst into life. Went for a run around the streets and the kids all loved seeing it. I must get some photos and do a post on this one since it was new to my grandfather in 1957.

  9. Hi there BBLQ092. Do you have the selling price that the 5095 made at the auction ? As I am sure there are a few of us on here who are curious to know if it sold or not and did it make a mad price.    :)

I didn't go to the sale since I was getting my Nuffield looked out and ready for the BA working day in a couple of weeks time. I haven't actually spoken to anyone who was at the sale yet but I will make enquiries and let you know.

  10. I had a call from my father who is currently up at the auction site and gave me the following feed back On the Ford 5095 for sale tomorrow

Different back tyres and one poor

    Poor front tyres

    Tin work fair

Bonnet a bit picked and rusty

Looks to have been power washed but sign of engine oil leaks

    8887.6 hours on clock

    One of wing lights bad

Whole in front grill lights ok

I will try and find out what it sells for (if sold) and post since I don't think I will be able to get to the auction

  11. I see from G&M models website there are set to attend the two day event at Lanark on the 22nd and 23rd September 2007.

I think this must be year three of the show. Usually a good turnout of traders and on the model front Pictoy and A & B Holmes have been there for the past two years.

There has been in the past a good selection of real tractor traders for spares etc

The downfall of the show in my opinion is the set up displaying the real tractors. Although the bulk of them are displayed inside within the mart they don't or can't remove all the metal pen fencing. The tractors are usually lined up nose to tail which in my opinion is awful and not good for taking any photographs. Reminds of queuing to board a ferry.

All in all a fairly good show and I intend going again this year. I might even take a real tractor down (well my Ransome MG 2 caterpiller since it travels in a mini curtainsider) and stay the weekend since there is usually an auction on the Saturday.

  12. Nice Vids Mart.....love the way the machine looks like its floating as the wheels turn but camera cant pick it up :D :D :D

Yes the 4th one was good. Funny to see the tractor and machine going forward but the wheels appearing to go backwards!!!

Were did you shot these NH2 if you don't miind me asking ???

  13. Hi there BBLQO92. It is very difficult to value without seeing this tractor as so many things need to be considered before setting a value or limit to bid up to. Tyres, paintwork, body panels, hours on clock, runner /non runner, pools of oil under it everywhere ( sorry forgot it's not an MF )   There are 2 lines of thought on valuing this unusual beast. First. It could be that there is a clued up bidder or two at the sale who happen  to know that you won't find too many 5095's coming up and have set a high price to go to in the bidding just to get it and it will make a fortune you could find it makes a mental price at the fall of the hammer.  :o   Second line is that like yourself most people at the sale will have never heard of or seen one of these models and they just won't think about bidding on an unknown model of tractor and it becomes the bargain of the day for some lucky buyer   ;D

I hear what you are saying TS135A. It will be interesting to see what it actually makes ( if its sold offcourse) - there could be a high reserve on it I just don't know. I will maybe try and get off work early tomorrow and have a look up to Fyvie. Alternatively I'll may ask the old boy who is retired to have a look up and what its like.

  14. Hi there. If I remember this right it is a Dutch or could have been a Belgian built conversion. Can't recall the name of the firm though, it will come back later or someone else on here will know it. These models were popular in France and on european farms at the time. If you look at the picture you will see a U shaped chassis member under the engine between the front bolster and the bell housing. This is a trade mark feature on all these conversions. Gives the tractor extra strength as the blocks used were unstressed and needed the extra support. I think it was a firm called EVA that make the parts. You will also see a similar thing on Ford 8100 and 8200 models which were converted in the U.K. by S.E.M. in Essex if I got that right. Hope this helps you out. Would like to come down to this sale but plan to do the model fair in Aberdeen and the B.A. Farmtoys weekend in a couple of weeks time   :) Could be worth a bid or two as it will be a rare tractor to find in Aberdeenshire or anywhere in the U.K.   8)

Thanks for that TS135A. I'll send you a PM on the toy fair and BA event since i know of another forum member coming to BA from Canada.

  15. I was looking at the list of items for a sale of tractors and lorries and other plant which is taking place in Aberdeenshire this coming Saturday and see there is a 1976 Ford 5095 in the sale. I've never heard of such a model before but them I'm not very knowledgable on Ford tractors. Does anyone know anyhing about this model - an import perhaps?
