  1. dominator 85 would get my vote because we restored one last summer

Take my hat of to you (even though I dont wear one...), combine restoration is a major job, think it is wonderful that these older machines our still going strong, and as I said (I think?) earlier in this thread, the older Dominators & Senators etc have so much more character than the likes of the Lexions(undoubtably impressive they are, but all clean lines and modern looking!! :-\). Do you use your 85, has it got a cab?, table width, year etc, questions questions...sorry for being nosey, but just love the older claas combines! ;D_

Please U-H cater for our needs re 70's claas combines, I am sure they would be a hit._

  2. On a recently received Claas Europa, the unloading auger literally hangs down as it is opened out into the unloading position, on closer inspection, there appears to be a fine crack in the plastic eye hole where the small screw goes through (the bit that is effectively holding the auger to the tank) hope that makes sence  :-\.

I would send it back, but as it was given to me as a present,(and yes it was new, and un opened  ;D) it is a little difficult  :-[

I have emailed U-H for a replacement auger (I will even pay!), but I havn't had any reply.

Does anyone on FTF have any U-H contacts/or is any one dealing in convos/mods. of this combine yet, who has a spare auger for sale???  ;)

  3. The SCALEdown 1/32s (yes 2 types to start with:'65 & '67 versions both 6X pre-Force, 65 & 67 bhp with different decals and toolbox) are still a couple of months away, after many years of development, I've only ever known 1 pattern maker do things right ( the guy that did most of our DB 990) and he's too busy making a model of Leamington Spa for Pete Waterman now ( I can't compete with his pocket  ::)>:() so I'm having to spend all my time in between running the company altering/correcting/adding-to the detail of the model patterns that I paid for 2 years ago, but with so many variants to come from this model in the future (+ we had one on the family farm that I drove from new for 8 years) I want it to be as good as it can be, though it's costing a fortune  :o. It will be different spec from the UH, no front weights,p.u.h. or p.a.s.but it won't be littered with FORCE features. Eventually I'd like to do a fully "loaded" spec one too  (S-o-S even!)

Problem is now, it's going to be quicker to get the SUPER DEXTA out than the 5000 as the bonnet is nearing completion and the instructions are the same as our existing Dextas whereas the 5000's all need to be done from scratch, (more midnight oil for me to burn).

    Thanks for that Nigel,

Very much looking forward to those two (and their varients!)

  4. Hi Will, having got my DOE special edition one today there are even more discrepences than you mention but I'm not going to publicise them here. Rest assured ours will be right. Incidentally I guess this is supposed to be the revised 6X that we had in '67 and the decals are correct for this 67 bhp version as opposed to the first ('64-67) 65 bhp type that we are also doing which is as you describe. :) Britains did this version in '65 as I'm sure you're aware.

Perhaps I should start doing correction packs, I understand there are companies doing similar in other model lines. :)

    )

    Hello Nigel,

Hope this isnt a stupid question...but when you say "Rest assured ours will be right", do you mean you will be correcting your own 5000 U-H purchase, or are you producing your own 5000? (certainly hope its the latter, as I have over 15 of your models already, and fantastic they are!!)

  5. looks like it is in front of a renault.

Where do they come up with the time to make all these  ??? ???

In the meantime I am getting poorer and poorer ;) ;) :'( :'(

UH is certainly putting the pressure on Siku and Britains but if Wiking and Ros dont quickly follow suit they will have a hard time keeping close also. The world of Farm models looks brilliant , doesn't it ?

    I love it...... ;D ;D

Toatally agree Anfield Vario, I think the world of farm models has undergone something of a revolution in the last few years, particularly in the 1:32 scale. Its not that long ago that that all we had to look forward to in the main stream offerings would be a handful of new additions from the likes of Britains & Siku etc, and looking back at the quality & detail back then, it was light years away from todays standard (granted, partly due to new & improved techniques etc),but with the advent of the likes of U.H, the bar has been dramatically raised, and credit to Britains & Siku, because they to are now far better models than not so long back.

But as farm model enthusiasts, we our the winners, and whats more, there seems to be more and more companies coming into the market, (As you mention, Wiking & Ros etc) with almost precision standard models, at toy prices!!!

Apologies for slightly drifting of the topic of new U-H releases....got a bit carried away  ;D

But the future does look good  :) :) :)

  6. Hello,

Yes thanks for that, I did watch them sometime in the past, good stuff too!

From memory, a few clips from the claas archive do appear in the video, such as the matadors on the Dutch polders etc, but there is lots of footage that I haven't seen else where.

As I said, think if you like old Claas combines, its an entertaining 45 mins  ;)

  7. Not sure if Im posting on the right board, as its a video, but the video is to accompy the book......... :-\

Anyway, purchased this video from the Claas website before xmas, with postage & euro conversion it worked out at a tad over ?29 in total.

It is about 45 mins duration, and the commentary is in German, however I would say about 70-80% is footage, so even if your not fluent in German, it is very watchable.

Any one into old company/promo footage is in for a treat, lots of S/F, Super, Matador, Senator, Consul, Dominator clips not to mention later lexion stuff.

All in all a good watch if old claas combines are you thing.

  8. One of these!!! Go on!!!

This one was in the running when we bought the 78. 78 was tidier, lower houred and fractionally cheaper.

But I would love to trade the 78 for a low houred 98 when the time comes.

They're just so pretty...!!!!!!!!!!! If that's the correct way to describe a german combine?!?!

They can make that after the Senator & early Dominator to complete a nice liitle collection..... ;)

  9. Too right, no-ones ever finished a Senator model (yet-to my knowledge, ) and I ran a Dominator 80 from 1985-98 so I'd have a few as I doubt they'd do a11' header like mine so I'd have to customise one (13' was more usual-though there was another 11' from the same estate where mine came from 2nd hand).

    Hi Nigel,

Bet that was quite rare in its day, an 11ft Dom, as you say more usual to see 13 or 15 (or even 17 on 100/5's).

I cant dispute that todays machines are very impressive, for there size, power & sheer output (i.e lex 600), but for me they dont have the character of the older ranges, only need to look at a late 60's/70's claas product range leaflet, various types, styles & sizes, from small cosmos type machine/medium Consul/medium & large Senators (60/70's & 80 etc) and range topping Doms, with a monster 100 or later 105!!.

As I say, although very impressive, for me a lexion is a lexion, from the smallest to the biggest, comes down to standardization across a range and economics I suppose.

Give me an 85 & 105 chugging round a field in tandom, rather than a couple of 600's any day  ;D  ;D

  10. Wonder if we will ever see a Senator or early Dominator (80/5 - 100/5) from U-H.

I think it would be a natural progression from the Matador. Suppose it largely depends on the success of the aforementioned.

Would love to see one of these Claas classics in 1:32nd........ ::)

Any one else feel the same way?

  11. take a wee look in the first pics of the NH and vaderstad drill , over to the left of the pic,on the same  display shelf you`ll see  the MF and the grimme...........looks 1/32 to me  :)

    Good spot there jakescot!  ;)

Looking at that pic, it certainly looks 1:32  :)

  12. Thanks for the pics Johan,

    They look fab!!

After seeing the grimme, it will be such a dissapointment if it is 1:16    :(

looking at it in relation to the MF, Im hoping its 1:32, but wouldnt want to stake a lot of money on it, we had one years ago, and compared to todays harvestors they are not what you would call big..... :-\
