Help with gates.

Hi guys as a few of you know I have started building a display but I am having trouble getting my gates right. I have used the scale calculator and a 15' gate comes out at 5 inches which is fine but the height of 5' comes out at 1 inch which looks silly. What height do you make them . Also what size plastruct do you use?

heres an easy way to work out scale sizes, well i think its easy anyway measure the size in millimeters of the real life item in this case a 5' gate, which would be roughly 1525mm in height, divide 1525 by 32 ( to make it The scale of 1:32) and hey presto the answer is 47.6 mm. always work in mm as working in cm will only confuse things, why the hell they continue to teach in cm at school confuses the hell out of me because i have never worked in cm since i left school 19 years ago : sorry for the rant

I was trying to convert it in inches but that way is easier.

Again habit from working in the oil industry everything is in imperial sizes from pipe to small bore tubing fittings.

i would take the lazy option and not worry to much about gate sizes etc and how well they fit, if you think about it, how many gates around the country do you see that are spot on \ thats my advice

The lazy approach is normally a second rate job, remember if a job is worth doing it's worth doing well 

I the north east of scotland most gate fit the opening I have seen very few ill fitting gates even on fields with 2 15' gates.
