Help with gates.

robl12

Question

Hi guys as a few of you know I have started building a display but I am having trouble getting my gates right. I have used the scale calculator and a 15' gate comes out at 5 inches which is fine but the height of 5' comes out at 1 inch which looks silly. What height do you make them . Also what size plastruct do you use?

Not the bst pic in the world... sorry for that...

As you can see I have made them with a 'thru-mortice' so they are pretty strong.. should be ok with a coat of paint or varnish perhaps - that's your job though Sean  ;D:D :D

I'll post the MkIV spud boxes in the other topic

Marky mate what can i say :P excellent , super, fantastic. :P :P

Thanks Marky... not quite your standards I know..

I meant to say how hugely impressed I was with your brooms I spotted at TT... stunning work mate..

I'm racking my brains about what to make next... I've not got the patience (or skill) to make a layout... but I enjoy making little 'knick-knacks' for you boys to use...

Done pallets.. doors, gates and spud boxes... any suggestions more than welcome please  :)???

How about some old type wooden ladders or stepladders, or maybe the type of wooden packing case that large amounts of spare parts arrive in ??

Or perhaps some wooden post and rail fencing with a stile  ;)

Brilliant... Mark I think I love you  :-*:-[

Can you buy small dowel anywhere... I mean REAL small  ???
