Tractorman810
small sections of a car areial mate, work a treat, easy to do, if they aint to hand, try a cheapo tool shop, i find the same thing but with a magnet on the end thinner sections to, for 99 p

toyboy
i use different size styrene rod that all fits inside one another and then glue it all together so that it looks like the ram is open then spray the whole lot a chrome colour then mask the open sleves of the ram and then paint the outer bottom sleve the desired colour, this is what i have done on my marshall dumper and when the trailer is not in the tipped position the open rams can usually be hidden inside the trailer chassi, this is the cheats way of doing it but its a dam site quicker and it looks the part when you have them propping up the tipped body, hope this helps

Tractorman810
another long thought! thanks thats what i use 99p in my local cheapo tool shop, and seeing as they are small, the sections are a lot thinner than a car areial, thinest being prob no more than 1.5 - 2mm used them on loaders to due to the size
