Luke DeWitt
I was not quite sure where this belonged so I too a chance an put them here I was digging through some pictures for CJ and I came across these tractors moving the sand on the beach last year in April while I was on vacation in Virginia Beach. Id rather be there than in New York with all the snow right now
Massey Boys Mum
Your pictures are very good - where we live in Cornwall there is a tractor that cleans the beach (Perranporth). You'll have to ask Cerin what it is - I think a Kubota?
Luke DeWitt
Thank you, I had to laugh at the fact that the tractors are Case and New Holland but everything from generators to bucket loaders that their road crews used were John Deere, I am fairly certain that the ones scraping the sand work for the same department as the road crew. Luke DeWitt
Good pics , Why were they moving sand then I am not quite sure why, I think it is for erosion control. Seems like it would be a fun job though :D
Tractorman810
not for cleaning is it?? thats what they did it for in palma, took the top off with scrapes and piled it up for going through a machine, then dragged it back after

Luke DeWitt
They have some signs by the beech and it says something about an erosion project. What they do is take a Cat payloader and push debris from around where the tide was the night before and then these tractors were pulling sand from by the board walk and pulling it forward. The odd thing was that they were leaving this straw like material on the beach that must wash up from the night before. It must be a new technique because 2 years ago there was just sand and now this past year they are leaving this straw material that washes up.
