Help with Siku 284s cab

An Interested Spectator

Question

Some advice please re this model.

I think I am right in saying that the 284s (the real one, not the model) was a German tractor and not sold in the UK.

However, what make was the cab, and was it used on any 200 series tractors sold in the UK ? I have seen lots of 284s with 600 series cabs on. Can anyone shed any light on this.

Cheers

Adie.

The 284 was not sold in the UK as it was built by Landini and we didn't see any of the Italian built wheeled tractors, just a few small crawlers. The cab on the 290 was built by GKN Sankey and is not the same as the 284. The 290 was fitted with a Duncan cab prior to the one in your picture. Sorry but I have no idea who built the 284 cab.

We did get a few specialist wheeled tractors Mr Eurodeere.... 154's, 184's and 194's  ;)  .. as well as the latter 304 range I believe...

As you rightly say... the Landini built 284s was not sold in the UK... and I've only got the brochure for the 600 series cabbed version as follows:

some were cabbed as a factory order.. but to the best of my knowledge there is no brochure... One of my friends recently bought a cabbed 184 from Cheffins which I helped load on his trailer... I'll see if I can find a picture of that, as it was cabbed I am sure  :-\

Thanks for that Lord F. Yes your right and I was trying to say the normal ag tractors never reached Blighty! Your friends 284 does look good and I'm sure ideal on a post knocker, your next mission is to get some pics of her in action. The cab looks the same as that used on some Renault tractors, could be Bucher or some such name

I've just noticed that that picture I posted covers a fair few cabs... left to right...

Cabcraft

184s ... er... dunno... over to Mr Eurodeere..

240 Duncan

Back to Sankey again on the 20e (which was also available with another nasty looking square cab which I can't think for the life of me what it was called... same as the 250)

I'm not sure the one I showed and your first 265 are fitted with a Lambourne cab, I'm speculating because it looks so close to the Lambourne low profile cabs fitted to Fords of the time. I can remember them when launched at the Royal show and I saw one on a farm but never looked at the plate in the cab :( The last 265 looks like a cab fitted to continental tractors, never seen one in the UK, will try and put a name to it.
