This week end see the Mearn's Vintage Vehicle Club host their annual rally at Arnhall Farm Edzell which is just opposite the Edzell air base.

It is a two day event but not much happens on the Saturday other than a vintage sale which starts at 1pm.

I'll be down both days but only with tractor on the Sunday.

Today I went to the Mearn's rally at Edzell to the auction with my compressor. I decided to take the scenic route called the Cairn o Mount which has 12% and 14% gradients.

I stopped at the layby just below the top of the Cairn and took a few shots

Although a hard road in about it was muddy but I got in. Car and trailer will need a good wash tomorrow. Rain back on here again and forecast not good so I have decided not to take tractor down tomorrow. Depending on what I get done in forenoon I may have a spin down with car in afternoon for a nosey ;) ;)

Nothing really took my fancy at the sale

A Sellars of Huntly double furrow plough lot No 1 made only £ 45. A cheap plough for someone I would have said.

Well it rained most of the forenonn with us but I donned the oil skins and washed car and trailer and fitted two new tyres and rims before a spot of brunch. Dad decided we woul take his car and have a run down to the Mearns rally to see how bad conditions were. Off we set via the Cairn o mount for the second day running and arrived around 1.45. We stopped at the entrance to the Edzell airbase and I walked to the field but it had been closed early and most things were leaving, The prize giving and raffle was taking place so I only spent around 3/4 hour there before we set sail home again this time up the main road to Stonehaven and then Netherley, Durris and Drumoak.

It was very windy but the rain was off and it was now actually quite sunny.

Yes Colm especially the two belonging to Gordn Sturrock from Dundee. Mind you he is a spray painter to trade so if he can't produce a good one who can. Me I'm jack of all trades and master of none but I do all my spraying myself and don't outsource as the majority of the prize winning tractor owners tend to do.
